Doulas are a valuable resource for pregnant people to have better birth outcomes supporting them before, during, and after pregnancy. Having a doula makes you more likely to: - Have a shorter labor. - Not have a C-section. - Have a better childbirth experience. NYC’s Citywide Doula Initiative connects birthing people and parenting families to doula support. You can get access to doulas for free through the initiative if you are in a shelter, foster home, eligible for Medicaid, or if you live in one of these zip codes — on.nyc.gov/4eP6E6j. Advancing gender equity for the people of New York City.
About us
Founded in 2015, the NYC Commission on Gender Equity (CGE) works to create a deep and lasting institutional commitment to tearing down equity barriers across New York City. CGE addresses issues of inequity and discrimination facing girls, women, intersex, transgender and gender non-binary and gender non-conforming persons regardless of age, disability, ethnicity/race, faith, gender expression, immigrant status, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status. Focusing across the areas of economic mobility and opportunity, health and reproductive justice, and safety, CGE ensures that the City leads in the development and implementation of best practices in gender equitable policies and programs for its workforce and its residents.

Over the summer, NYC Public Schools added 1,500 additional 3-K seats in high-demand areas for the 2024-2025 school year. The increase resulted in less waitlists, reaching all families who applied before the August deadline, and is helping build a more affordable city for working class families. Applications for next year open in January 2025. 📰 on.nyc.gov/3Bnqgj5 🏫 on.nyc.gov/3TD8Wgi
