  • Tonight, we light purple for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. October is an opportunity to recommit to extending support and resources to all survivors and show those impacted by domestic violence (DV) that they are not alone. The theme for #DVAM2024 is #FinancialAbuse in the #DigitalWorld — DYK that financial abuse occurs in 99% of DV situations, and technology-facilitated abuse occurs in 99% of DV and gender-based violence situations. DV impacts 80,000+ New Yorkers annually, with devastating consequences for survivors, families, and entire communities. Whether you share the NYS Domestic and Sexual Violence Hotline number, join a DV 101 training, or wear purple on October 17 for #PurpleThursday, the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence has a page dedicated to resources and ways you can be an ally this month and all year long: on.ny.gov/dvam24 If you or someone you love is experiencing domestic violence, talk to someone who gets it. Advocates at the NYS Domestic and Sexual Violence Hotline are standing by to offer confidential support, 24/7, in most languages. Call: 800-942-6906 Text: 844-997-2121 Chat: opdv.ny.gov 🗓️ Save the date: October 15-17 OPDV 🤝 OGS will once again host the NYS #ClotheslineProject on the Concourse at the Empire State Plaza, a collaborative exhibit with local domestic and sexual violence programs across the state.

  • NYS Office of General Services reposted this

One year ago, Governor Kathy Hochul created the New York State Office of the Chief Customer Experience Officer with a bold mission: to transform how New Yorkers interact with their government. This #CXDay, we’ve made remarkable progress in making state services easier, faster, and more accessible to the people we serve. From launching a tax filing pilot that saved New Yorkers time and money to introducing virtual assistance tools and redesigning state websites for a better user experience, we’ve worked tirelessly to ensure that you are at the center of everything we do. This milestone marks just the beginning of our journey toward a government that truly serves its people. We are proud of the strides we’ve made in the past year and are excited to continue improving the New York Experience. #NYXDelivers

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), a national movement that promotes and advocates hiring people with disabilities.  New York has expanded this focus into D.R.E.A.M. – Disability Rights & Employment Awareness Month – to highlight a distinctive disability rights movement providing opportunities, protections, and services to succeed in the workforce.    This year’s NDEAM theme — “Access to Good Jobs for All” — underscores a “commitment to expanding the number and quality of employment opportunities” for people with disabilities.    We're celebrating with a new exhibit on view in the New York State Capitol, highlighting the individuals, groups, and legislation that gave rise to moments in New York history that changed the lives of disabled people and continue to affect them.    We invite you to visit in-person or online: on.ny.gov/dream24
