NYU SPS Tisch Center of Hospitality professor Anna Abelson is quoted in this article by Global Travel Media, saying that becoming a sustainable tourism destination can be challenging. "It's balancing people, planet, and profit," she says. "This involves cultural sensitivity, minimizing environmental impact, ensuring economic benefits, and promoting social equity. The aim is to meet the needs of visitors, host communities, and the environment while ensuring that tourism remains viable long-term without depleting resources or causing harm." NYU SPS Tisch Center of Hospitality professor Sean Hennessey is quoted in this Business Insider article by Eliza Relman about the one-year anniversary of NYC’s Local Law 18 and its impact on Airbnb and hotels in NYC. "In a market like New York City, it doesn't appear that there's going to be any alternative that provides a release valve on those industry trends," Sean Hennessey, a clinical associate professor at New York University's Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality, told Business Insider. "If you're an existing hotel, the future looks pretty bright." Read more: https://lnkd.in/gBH3Berx NYU School of Professional Studies

Meet Naya Garrido-Genao, an MS in Event Management student within the NYU SPS Tisch Center of Hospitality. Making a career switch in her late 20s, event management combines her non-profit background with her passion for gathering people for a common cause. One of Naya's highlights from her journey as a student was the opportunity to take a Global Field Intensive course in Madrid. "I was impressed by how NYU showcased that you can build a career outside of New York. Visiting NYU Madrid felt like being at a Spanish university rather than an American one abroad. The cultural exchange was enriching, and we all dove deep into the local culture, creating space for each other to learn." Why NYU SPS? "It was just an easy choice in terms of connections, and the network of students and professors. SPS has been a game changer." What’s next for OYO USA and G6 Hospitality LLC Hospitality? Hotel Dive consulted experts like Max Starkov, adjunct instructor at NYU SPS Tisch Center of Hospitality, on the Indian hospitality company's $525 million Motel 6 buy. "Acquiring a well-known hotel chain like Motel 6 — a hospitality company with “great brand recognition" — will "undoubtedly help OYO to increase its brand equity in the U.S.," Starkov said, in turn helping “increase direct bookings and repeat business, and decrease dependency on the OTAs."
