UHS Trauma Services & Injury Prevention participated in Truck Day at The Discovery Center of the Southern Tier on Saturday, August 24. Partnering with Broome County Traffic Safety, UHS' Bethlehem Emmons-Post and Carly Braman helped area children become safer by handing out 138 properly-fitted bike helmets at the event. The team also educated families about pedestrian and bicycle safety. We are thankful to our dedicated staff who aim to prevent injures and make our communities safer!

Congratulations to Kimberly Reardon, BSN, RN, for being our most recent DAISY Award winner at UHS! The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem) Award is an international recognition program started by the DAISY Foundation that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. The ICU nurse was nominated by the wife of a patient she cared for. In the nomination letter, the patient's wife spoke about how kind and professional Kim was and how she not only treated her husband but also her family with compassion. Throughout their time in the ICU, Kim was constantly a calming presence for the family, advocating for the patient and making sure he was receiving the best care possible. While the family was thankful for everyone in the ICU for the wonderful care they received, they felt Kim needed to be recognized, not only for being a stellar nurse, but also being a stellar human. Thank you Kimberly for truly displaying what a tireless, devoted and passionate nurse can do, and the impact they can have on their patients and their families!
