July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month! Also known as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Mental Health Awareness Month. This month, we recognize the unique challenges that BIPOC communities face when experiencing mental health concerns. This month is also about raising awareness about the additional barriers minority groups face when seeking treatment for mental health concerns, including lack of access to mental health treatment, language barriers, and increased stigma on seeking help. Join us as we explore the importance of raising awareness of these issues and share BIPOC mental health resources. #BIPOC #Minoritymentalhealthawareness www.oakheartcenter.com 630-570-0050

June is Men's Mental Health Awareness Month. Why is this important? Men are often less likely to speak up about their struggles, which can lead to further mental health concerns. Some may assume that because men do not talk about their mental health struggles, they do not exist. In reality, men are four times as likely as women to die by suicide, and 1 in 10 men experience depression or anxiety each year. Even though men make up a significant percentage of people who experience mental health concerns each year, less than half will receive support for these concerns. Asking for help can feel difficult, but it is an essential step towards experiencing relief from presenting problems. If you or someone you know is struggling, consider reaching out to a mental health professional, a support group, or a helpline such as 988. #mensmentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness www.oakheartcenter.com 630-570-0050

Hi, my name is Lee Ann Heathcoat, and I've been with the OakHeart team since 2020. I wanted to reintroduce myself and take this week to share information about a specialty of mine, Bipolar Disorder. Over the next week, I'm going to be providing education and information related to diagnostic criteria and ways that I may work with clients to aid in managing symptoms of Bipolar Disorder. In addition to continuing to grow my specialization with Bipolar Disorder, I also specialize in working with clients who are 15 years and older with Substance Use Disorders, Anxiety, Depression, Anger Management, LGBTQ+ Support, Domestic Violence, Panic Disorder, Life Transitions, and Dual Diagnoses (Substance Use and Mood Disorders). I love creating an environment for my clients to feel safe to explore and challenge themselves. I enjoy bringing humor and a laid-back style to my sessions to help clients feel comfortable through their journey. I do this by utilizing a variety of evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Strength-Based Therapy, and continuing to cultivate knowledge in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). If you need support for mental health and may be a good fit for one of my specializations, reach out by phone to our main office at 630-570-0050. I want to connect and find out more about how I can support you on your journey. You can check out my full bio here: https://lnkd.in/gzQY7EBi #bipolarsupport #mentalhealthmatters
