Check out the latest report by the National Ocean Industries Association on global oil production emissions conducted by ICF, the GHG Emission Intensity of Crude Oil and Condensate Production. Prepared by ICF, the report reveals that the greenhouse gas intensity of U.S. oil production, particularly in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, is lower compared to most other regions around the world. Total U.S. oil production has a carbon intensity 23% lower than the international average, and the U.S. Gulf of Mexico has a carbon intensity 46% lower than the global average, outperforming other nations like Russia, China, Brazil, Venezuela, Iran, Iraq, and Nigeria. The report showcases the outstanding achievements of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico in producing low carbon intensity barrels while maintaining a thriving energy production system. Based upon the findings from ICF and other leading organizations, the U.S. Gulf of Mexico is at the forefront of delivering among the world’s lowest carbon intensity barrels of oil. NOIA President Erik Milito says, “The U.S. Gulf of Mexico energy production sets the standard for oil and gas production worldwide. The world needs both climate solutions and a growing amount of energy, and we don't have to choose between the two. Thanks to the remarkable efforts of the women and men producing energy in the Gulf of Mexico, we have an incredible source of reliable and responsibly produced energy. The Gulf of Mexico produces a massive amount of energy with a remarkably small footprint, and its continued success is critical for our energy security, national security, and energy affordability. This study validates the importance of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico as a source of energy with demonstrably lower carbon intensity barrels.” https://bit.ly/41y5btS #energy #oil #gulfofmexico #emissions #ghg

Today's lease sale further opens the door for American floating wind leadership. Workers and companies from coast to coast, even in states far from the project sites, are already contributing to the burgeoning American offshore wind industry. This extensive network of skilled professionals and businesses is pivotal to the success of projects like those in the Gulf of Maine.

A well-earned congratulations to CÉLINE B. GERSON, Anthony L. Gray, Fionnuala Richard, Michael Cole and the entire Fugro team! 🎉 Fugro has achieved two significant milestones: the official opening of their new Remote Operating Centre (ROC) in Houston and a decade of ROC operations, totaling over one million hours. Fugro’s ROC journey began in the Americas with their pilot project in Lafayette in 2014. The relentless energy innovation in the Gulf of Mexico and US offshore is evident, and Fugro exemplifies this daily.

Last week, we celebrated two significant milestones: the official opening of our new Remote Operating Centre (ROC) in Houston and a decade of ROC operations at Fugro, totaling over one million hours. I am especially proud that Fugro's ROC journey began in the Americas with our pilot project in Lafayette in 2014 🧡🕹 Our ROCs are not only creating career opportunities for a new workforce but also providing an alternative for those seeking a lifestyle change. During my visit, I was fortunate to meet one of our wonderful female surveyors who spent two years offshore and recently joined our ROC to better support her family. She loved her time offshore, but the ROC allows her to continue pursuing her passion while caring for her loved ones 🏠 Congratulations to all the team members who have contributed to driving this transformation towards more sustainable and safer operations, including Anthony L. Gray , Fionnuala Richard and Michael Cole ! #SafeAndLiveableWorld #ROC

Exciting advancements are happening in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico! Chevron's Anchor project, which achieved its first oil in August 2024, is a testament to the industry’s unwavering commitment to innovation, safety, and efficiency. As the first deepwater high-pressure development to begin production, Anchor utilizes cutting-edge subsea technology to access reservoirs at remarkable depths. This remarkable achievement was made possible through the collaboration of numerous companies. Notably, Chevron partnered with Transocean, utilizing their newly built Deepwater Titan, an advanced drillship, to drill and complete the project’s subsea high-pressure production wells. The Deepwater Titan and its sister ship are the first rigs globally equipped with state-of-the-art hoisting and well control systems. A special thanks to Greg Kusinski of Chevron for presenting on this remarkable achievement and sharing his direct experiences and insight of the development of Anchor at the National Ocean Industries Association Fall Meeting, as well as Joe Leimkuhler of Beacon Offshore Energy. They presented during the timely session, 20k Projects: The Next Frontier in the Gulf of Mexico and Around the World. Looking ahead, other frontier high-pressure, high-temperature projects, such as Beacon Offshore Energy's Shenandoah Project and bp's Kaskida Project, are set to build upon the Gulf region’s impressive resilience and status as a premier global energy basin. #EnergyInnovation #DeepwaterTechnology #Collaboration #SafetyFirst #Efficiency #OilAndGas #GulfOfMexico

"Without a valid biological opinion in place, federal authorities likely would have been forced to consult on hundreds — if not thousands — of decisions annually. Some experts warned the situation could have forced operations in the Gulf to grind to a halt. "The decree is also important for the wider crude market: If the Gulf of Mexico were a country, it would rank among the top 12 oil producers. Nearly a century after drillers first started tapping the region, it remains a cornerstone of US production, providing about 14% of domestic output. "Monday’s ruling is crucial because the Gulf is an “indispensable” energy hub, said Erik Milito, president of the National Ocean Industries Association, a lobby group."

National Ocean Industries Association President Erik Milito said: “This ruling is crucial for maintaining our energy security, affordability, and national security, all of which depend on the uninterrupted supply of oil and gas from the Gulf of Mexico.” “It has become readily apparent to elected officials on both sides of the aisle that an impairment of production from the Gulf of Mexico could lead to a cascading effect throughout the American economy, delivering an unwelcome blow to consumers still reeling from inflationary impacts,” Milito added.

Good news from the U.S. District Court for the District Court of Maryland. The court granted the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) more time to complete a new Biological Opinion (BiOp) for the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Under a previous ruling, the BiOp would have been vacated effective December 20, 2024, threatening to halt new and existing oil and natural gas production and activity in the region. Today's decision grants NMFS until May 21, 2025 to complete a new BiOp. National Ocean Industries Association President Erik Milito said: "We are pleased with the court’s decision to grant the requested relief, allowing the federal government additional time to issue a new Gulf of Mexico Biological Opinion... It has become readily apparent to elected officials on both sides of the aisle that an impairment of production from the Gulf of Mexico could lead to a cascading effect throughout the American economy, delivering an unwelcome blow to consumers still reeling from inflationary impacts." Ørsted's South Fork Wind offshore wind project shows the widespread economic activity that is being generated to support offshore wind projects. While the power may be serving local communities, you're seeing investments in communities throughout the country. Orsted’s domestic supply chain now spans more than 40 states, and work for South Fork Wind took place in New York, South Carolina, Texas, Rhode Island and Connecticut, among other states. There are also offshore wind port hubs being developed, including the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal, the Port of Virginia and Connecticut’s Port of New London.
