We officially broke ground on the $23 million expansion and renovation of Ochsner American Legion Hospital, which is the last American Legion Hospital in the country. This rural hospital has been a cornerstone of healthcare in Jennings for more than 70 years. We honor its legacy while looking forward to an exciting future of growth and innovation. When Jennings American Legion Hospital merged with Ochsner in 2022 to become Ochsner American Legion Hospital, we made a promise to this community: to invest in the hospital and keep high-quality care local. This groundbreaking is a testament to that promise. With expanded services, more specialized care and enhanced telehealth capabilities, we are ensuring that our patients in Jennings and Jefferson Davis Parish continue to receive the best care. This project is about more than bricks and mortar. It’s about creating a healthcare environment that truly puts Patients First by keeping care close to home. Ochsner Lafayette General is proud to support student mothers and employees at South Louisiana Community College (SoLAcc) by donating two state-of-the-art nursing pods. These mobile pods, located on SoLAcc's Lafayette Campus, provide a private, comfortable space for breastfeeding mothers and employees, equipped with seating, charging stations and electrical outlets. "Our donation of breastfeeding pods to SoLAcc reinforces our commitment to the health and well-being of families in Acadiana. This initiative aligns with our mission to serve, heal, lead, educate and innovate, and it creates a supportive environment for nursing mothers pursuing education," said Al Patin, CEO of Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center. Dr. Leonardo Seoane, EVP and Chief Academic Officer, shared, “Her dedication and passion align perfectly with our mission to provide high-quality, accessible and compassionate healthcare for all.” Reflecting on her journey, Dr. Curet said, “The Ochsner Physician Scholars Program provided invaluable support throughout my medical school journey. I am honored to return to my roots and practice in St. Martinville, where I can give back to the community that has shaped me. I also look forward to finally learning how to make my grandmother’s shrimp and okra gumbo, a dish I missed during my years away for medical school and residency.” Dr. Curet graduated summa cum laude from LSU and earned her MD from LSU Health Shreveport. She recently completed her Family Medicine Residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler, where she was recognized for her academic excellence. For several years, in conjunction with Lent, we've offered the alcohol #Freefor40 Program. As part of the program, participants go through a series of measurements — weight, body fat, bloodwork — right after Mardi Gras, and then again after 40 days of abstinence from alcohol. Changes on the INSIDE happen before changes on the OUTSIDE, so it's great to be able to show the public these things within their own bodies. Thank you to The Current for covering! You can read about the program here: https://lnkd.in/ggArgXD7...
