  • 🎉As we celebrate the 60th anniversary of Job Corps, we look to the intelligent insights of those who chose to expand our services to include training in 👨🏾⚕️health care, a highly in-demand field. 19-year-old Jesse has been at #OldDominionJobCorps for just over a year. He’s studying in the clinical medical assistant trade and, one day, hopes to attend Liberty College to become a👨🏾⚕️ registered nurse. He says his experience at Job Corps has been great because it’s opened opportunities to him, and the students and staff have been terrific. “I’ve been at JC for over a year and Job Corps has taught me so much. I would not be the person I am today without Job Corps. And I have so much to thank them for. Happy 60th birthday.” #OldDominionJobCorps #Student Success #SuccessStory #60YearsofCreatingCareers #JobCorps60th

  • As Job Corps celebrates 60 years of helping youth, it makes this year’s graduations all the sweeter. At #OldDominionJobCorps, they held the 2023-2024 class graduation. The student’s excitement at their successes at Job Corps shone in their faces. Many have exciting futures to step into as they leave the campus. We are so proud of our OD students, family, friends and staff. The best is yet to come. State Senator Mulchi sent a message to the class, saying, “I’m incredibly proud of your hard work and dedication. I’m excited to see what the future holds for you and all the things you will accomplish.” The Old Dominion Job Corps campus opened in 1979 and has served thousands of young people in central and eastern Virginia. The campus can serve 318 students aged 16-24 in areas such as building construction technicians, electrical wiring, auto mechanics, and Certified Medical Assistants.

  • 🎉As the 60th anniversary of Job Corps celebration continues, we recognize 17-year-old Kamar who is studying 🎨 industrial painting as his trade at #OldDominionJobCorps. Kamar says he enjoyed the fact that he shares common interests with people on campus and he likes the instructors. Kamar hopes to join the painter’s union one day. “Job Corps has helped me focus on my goals and figure out what I want to do. Happy 60th Birthday.”

  • Recently, #PaulSimonChicagoJobCorps Carpentry instructor Ana Figueroa attended “We Thrive” an event that was hosted by 🛠Mid-America Regional Council of Carpenters with our Illinois Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton. The event kicked off with a roundtable discussion hosted by the Lt. Governor. Women from various business sectors and diverse life experiences convened to discuss the obstacles they have faced in their financial journeys. Lt. Governor Stratton will travel across Illinois to host a series of smaller discussions called We Chats, bringing diverse groups of women together to listen and learn from each other and elicit the existing wisdom from within our communities. As this initiative progresses, the Office of the Lt. Governor will work to solidify a network of resources designed specifically for women regarding💲 financial services. Many state agencies, including the Department of Labor, Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, and Department of Central Management Services, already offer programs to support women’s financial well-being. We Thrive is another way for the Lt. Governor to partner with those state agencies and uplift the existing services so that more women know where and how to access support. #PaulSimonChicagoJobCorps #DOL #LtGovernorJulianaStratton #WeChats #JobCorpsWorks

  • 🦁These cats have talent! For Spirit Week, the Student Government Association (SGA) hosted a talent show to highlight the best and brightest #PittsburghJobCorps has to offer. Our 3rd place winner, Dayonn brought the house down with his rapping skills, while Hezekiah took 2nd place with his rocking guitar skills! 🏆Cornell stole the top spot by his out-of-this-world breakdancing skills! Every Pittsburgh Job Corps student shines on the their own, but when they come together, they form the brightest constellation! #PittsburghJobCorps #TalentShow #SuccessStory #StudentSuccess #CampusLife #JobCorpsWorks #CareersBeginHere

  • 60 years ago in August of 1964, the first Job Corps was established. Fast forward to 2024, and 121 campuses across the country have helped millions of youth discover careers through the program. • At #OldDominionJobCorps we take pride in being a part of a vibrant, diverse community. As we interact with our partners, both Job Corps and our partners gain something. Our 🎨painting instructor and Business Community Liaison recently gained important knowledge to share with students and staff when they participated in the👨🏾⚕️ Latinx Health Summit and Resource Fair for Hispanic / Latinx Community. #OldDominionJobCorps #CommunityPartner #HealthSummit #JobCorpsWorks
