Nydia had a busy week last month celebrating some amazing nonprofits. I bet you're "green" with envy. (You'll get that joke if you read her post.)

I had one week in September that was filled with green. Three of my favorite Milwaukee nonprofits all had their big fundraisers the same week. Strangely enough, all their branding involves a version of green. And they were all asking for green. Get it? Anyway, what I love about all these organizations is their devotion to their missions - the foundation of any good brand. Their fundraisers were joyous celebrations of the hard work and dedication of their staff, volunteers and donors. Each organizations's event was well-attended. Each one reached (or surpassed) their goals. And each event was completely unique to them. But, a successful fundraising event doesn't just happen by sending out some invitations, putting a few posts on social, and adding it your newsletter. It's a year of cultivating your donors, staying on message, building your brand, and making people want to come out to support you. It's building trust so your stakeholders are excited to invite their friends and spread the word. Your devoted stakeholders are your most valuable influencers. They want to be a part of what you are building. But, only if you are sending them a clear and consistent message all year long. So, if your events aren't getting the attendance you were hoping for, take a look at how you're engaging your supporters throughout the year. Is your mission clear? Do they feel like part of your community? Are they getting regular communications? Do you only contact them to ask for donations? At Odvant Creative, we are so proud to be a part of Milwaukee Parks Foundation's Go Green for Parks event and Acts Housing's Neighborhood Table. As a Board member, I was happy to see Milwaukee Diaper Mission's passionate supporters show up to sail away for Bridge the Gap! Can't wait for next year! pictures: 1. Go Green. It's on theme. 2. Beautiful night for MPF's Go Green event. 3. Acts Housing's Neighborhood Table at The Mecca. Food was amazing. (Thanks Tots on the Street and Flour Girl & Flame!) 4. My lovely dates and I pointing out Light the Hoan lit up green for MDM. #nonprofits #fundraising #marketing #branding #milwaukee #communications #fundraiser

New Post on our #OddThoughts Blog! What's the topic? Embracing Change: Evolving Your Brand. Not every organization needs an entire rebrand. There are small steps you can take to evolve your brand without breaking the bank or redoing your entire visual brand. We’ve all heard the phrase, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” but in today’s landscape, change is not just inevitable; it’s essential. And just because you think your logo or messaging might be good, it might not be resonating with your audience. You can evolve your brand without losing the essence that makes it uniquely yours. First Step: Acknowledge Change is Good! Change often triggers fear, and that’s perfectly normal. Your brand might have a loyal following who loves what you currently offer. The fear of alienating them can be paralyzing. However, it’s essential to recognize that change doesn’t mean losing your identity; it means evolving it Change as Growth: Think of change as a sign of growth and adaptability. Just as a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly, your brand can evolve into something even more beautiful. Note --> Preserve Your Core Values: While your strategies may change, your core values and mission should remain steadfast. These are the anchors that keep your brand rooted in its identity. We’ve been collaborating with Artists Working Education for years. Dena first joined as a resident artist ages ago, and later Dena and Nydia taught public art at Carmen High School, resulting in a mural with students and community members. We absolutely adore the work they do - it’s an understatement! Access to art at a young age shaped us as creative entrepreneurs. Not everyone is that fortunate, but AWE is working to change that. AWE recently approached us for a brand refresh. Their old sun logo was beloved but lacked functionality and assets. We revamped their logo with a more professional sun icon that doubles as a paint splat - how fun! Bright new colors and playful shapes were added to reflect the artwork from their programs. We’re thrilled to collaborate with them again and give them the refresh they deserve! Stay tuned for more exciting updates around this brand! 👀 #NonprofitBranding #NonprofitMarketing #MissionMatters #BrandForGood #CharityBrand #ImpactfulBranding #NonprofitStorytelling #BrandValues #CommunityEngagement #ChangeMakers #EmpowerChange #MeaningfulImpact #BrandingForACause #NonprofitDesign #InspireChange #BrandAdvocacy #NonprofitVisibility

Dena Here! I was on another podcast and this time it was international! 😮 I recently had the pleasure of being a guest on the Let's Be Diverse podcast, hosted by Andrew Stoute in Canada. During the podcast, I had the chance to delve into the intricacies of the concept development process and share insights on how we approach design and ideation at Odvant Creative. Andrew picked the topic and asked super interesting questions that allowed me to nerd out about processes. It was so much fun! The main thing I wanted to get across is how much Odvant Creative has worked on this. We didn't just get good at concept development by creating a process 9 years ago, when we started the company, and never updating it. And guess what? It is still being refined. The process from strategy to identity design to launch needs to be a focused (but flexible) path. We have worked hard to refine our process to be unique to us and talk to our values. We strive to make the process effective but also fun! Our goal is to guide clients through a transformative experience that leaves them excited and empowered to share their brand story with their audience. I want our clients to talk about their mission and vision with a passion, not think of it as just some words on a website. And when they whip out a business card - I want them to freak out with excitement over their new logomark. Fun Fact: I met Andrew Stoute after I was initially on a podcast with Dawn Mullarney, so thanks Dawn for inadvertently helping me connect with another podcast. 😀 You can listen now on Spotify or Apple podcast. Thanks again Andrew Stoute for having me! https://lnkd.in/gf2c_PPg https://lnkd.in/gZgtWZf8

Wow. Women’s Entrepreneurship Week last week was crazy, fulfilling, uplifting, and motivating all at the same time. We attended events every day across the city and met so many new local entrepreneurs. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with friends new and old and learn from a diverse range of speakers. The content shared was not only valuable but also comforting when hearing similar struggles or lessons learned. Most of the events were at the beautiful Charles Allis Museum, with other events spread out across various venues in the city, including the Oriental Theatre, the Milwaukee Public Library, the Ivy House, Palomino, and Sugar Maple Bar to name a few. Topics covered included challenges women face in securing venture capital, the importance of building a strong community, and the value of partnerships. Our very own Nydia Maurás-Jones shared her insights on building a brand story, followed by a panel discussion with Mara and Gloria of @arteryink and Angela Damiani of @newaukee. The week left us feeling empowered and proud to be women entrepreneurs! 💥 Thanks to @shestandstallmke for organizing such an impactful week of events. Great Job! 🙌
