Hurricane Helene has had a catastrophic impact on our communities. OSBM has developed a preliminary estimate of damage and needs of $53.6 billion across the state, including $41.1 billion of direct damages, $7.6 billion of indirect or induced damages, and $4.8 billion of potential investments for strengthening and mitigation. Studies have shown that mobilizing flexible capital investments quickly produces the strongest sustained economic recovery following a major disaster.
