The Davis Senior Expo is an opportunity for local seniors to get answers and explore activities for a more healthy and active lifestyle. It was held October 15 and 16 in Layton and ORMC and Syracuse ER were one of the many, featured booths. Our colleagues (like Tina Draney and Taunia Couch from the Trauma department- left to right in the photo above) conducted education on topics like stroke symptom awareness and more. More than 1500 people attended the Expo. It was a great opportunity to help the public learn more about health, and how we can play a part in their care. Do you have a suggestion for a health-related event we could help with? post in the comments, please.

The 'Gold Shoe' Certificate of Honor Award is presented to ORMC colleagues for giving of exceptional service, living our mission and exhibiting our values. "Natalie Newhouse, Speech Therapist (right) and Karly Dellasilva, Social Worker (left) with our Acute Rehabilitation Unit have earned Gold Shoe Awards. From their nomination: "They went above and beyond to get a patient to his closest family member in Alabama. Natalie assisted this patient in applying for disability. The patient did not have the experience with computers and did not have the cognitive skills to do this on his own, so as part of her treatment plan, she assisted him in entering in his information. They both worked to get his semi-truck from and to arrange a flight. This story is far more complicated than this and it was a tremendous undertaking for the both of them. Natalie’s father was a truck driver so she had a comprehensive understanding of the challenges a trucker would have, knowing that almost everything that patient owned was in his truck at that time. And for Karly, it is just in her nature to care for her patients in this manner." Join our crew: https://bit.ly/4fbP2S1
