Colleague Spotlight: Meet James, a Respiratory Therapist at St. Mark’s Hospital! We asked James What Pride means and the and the importance of inclusion. "Pride to me means recognition for being ME! Growing up I never felt seen as a person. I always felt ashamed of who I was and excluded as a person- I don't anymore. Pride makes me feel a sense of support from the world. Working in healthcare as an LGBTQ+ person is really great because it blends both worlds together for me. I understand compassion from a deeper level." We’re thrilled to join in the celebration and wish all our LGBTQ+ colleagues, patients, and neighbors a happy Pride Month! As a part of HCA Healthcare, St. Mark's Hospital is committed to providing equitable healthcare for all patients and fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace for colleagues. #HCAhealthcare #WeShowUp # PrideMonth

Colleague Spotlight: Meet Mackenzie, a member of our Physician and Provider Relations team at St. Mark’s Hospital! We asked Mackenzie why Pride matters to her. "Pride is such a special thing for people like me and my family. You never really know where you may be rejected, accepted or affirmed and that can be pretty stressful. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, we truly want to treated like everyone else, rather than perceived as “different.” It’s the small things like the little rainbow pins or flags that people wear that make us feel safe to be who we are. It tells us that we don’t have to fear that dreaded rejection in conversation. It is crucial that we make our settings, as a hospital, open and safe for those who enter our space, trusting us to care like family for themselves and their family members. I truly believe celebrations of Pride play a huge role in that." We’re thrilled to join in the celebration and wish all our LGBTQ+ colleagues, patients, and neighbors a happy Pride Month! Colleague Spotlight: Meet Trent, a Human Resources Business Partner at St. Mark’s Hospital! We asked Trent what Pride meant to him while working in healthcare. "Pride to me is about people coming together to celebrate one another as we surround ourselves by friends and family who will risk anything to assure that we are included and safe. Pride also serves as a reminder for healthcare workers to listen, learn, embrace and understand the lived experiences of the LGBTQ+ people we serve" We’re thrilled to join in the celebration and wish all our LGBTQ+ colleagues, patients, and neighbors a happy Pride Month!
