Ohio's school food service professionals serve 933,127 lunches each day and more than 149 million meals a year as part of the National School Lunch Program. Director Stephen Dackin shared the work connected to these ongoing efforts at today's "Aim Hire Workforce and Education Conference" hosted by the Ohio Governor's Office of Workforce Transformation and Ohio Excels.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Director Stephen D. Dackin pledged to cut chronic absenteeism by 50% over five years in Ohio schools. Studies show the connection between regular attendance and academic measures such as reading proficiently and graduating from high school. Ohio schools continue to raise awareness on the importance of students staying engaged in their learning, strengthening their connection to the school community, and making sure attendance is a priority for children and families.

What a fantastic day! 100 members of the Ohio Teacher Leader Network met to advance teacher leadership opportunities for colleagues throughout the state.
