About us

We're the Omaha Municipal Land Bank (OMLB), and our goal is simple: transform Omaha's distressed properties into community assets. To do so, we will assess and acquire properties deemed no longer livable and either redevelop or demolish and start anew. It will take time, dedication and community participation, but opportunity will move in, one neighborhood at a time.

The OMLB team was happy to support Jim Posey and the development team of Hamilton Village Senior Suites as they publicly unveiled their progress so far and offered tours. The development promises to offer high-quality, supportive housing for vulnerable residents, including veterans. We look forward to sharing more about Hamilton Village when it is complete and are proud to have played a small role in the needed project through assistance with land assembly.

  • Community Success Story: Don Curry Don Curry, a local resident, is leading a transformative project in his childhood neighborhood through the Omaha Municipal Land Bank. After discovering available lots, he saw the perfect opportunity to create quality affordable housing, aiming to reduce the number of people on the Section 8 waiting list. With the Land Bank's support in securing proper zoning, Don is building a multi-family, three-story building. His efforts have inspired others in the community to revitalize vacant lots, empowering residents to rebuild and take pride in their neighborhoods.

  • This month, our Land Bank Ambassadors participated in a bus tour, seeing firsthand the transformative work happening across the city on Land Bank lots. The tour focused on the various conditions present in vacant property and the maintenance needs (and associated costs), including those that have recently been made or are in the early stages of becoming shovel-ready. Ambassadors left with a clearer understanding of the work needed to revitalize these properties and the Land Bank's commitment to turning neglected lots into community assets.
