Helping People Live Better Lives
About us
The Department of Health and Human Services team contributes to the lives and health of Nebraskans every day. Our mission, “Helping people live better lives,” provides the motivation to make a difference. Some DHHS programs impact all Nebraskans; for example, we educate and protect people through public health activities like ensuring clean and safe drinking water and we license and certify all health care professionals. We also touch our state’s most vulnerable citizens. Our services assist the elderly, low income and those with disabilities; we provide safety to abused and/or neglected children and vulnerable adults; and thousands of Nebraskans rely on the services of our ten 24-hour facilities. At every level of our organization, our goal is to be honest, trustworthy, competent and loyal. We strive to be transparent and accountable. We’ve established a set of Values and Core Competencies to guide how we work to achieve our mission and effectively serve Nebraskans. While this is a public forum, it's also a business-oriented one, so please keep your comments clean and on topic. In addition to keeping it clean, we ask that you follow our posting guidelines below. Comments not falling within the guidelines will be removed. -We do not allow graphic, obscene, explicit or racial comments or submissions nor do we allow comments that are abusive, hateful or intended to defame anyone or any organization. -We do not allow solicitations or advertisements. Similarly, we do not allow attempts to defame or defraud any financial, commercial or non-governmental agency. -We do not allow comments that suggest or encourage illegal activity. -You participate at your own risk, taking personal responsibility for your comments, your username and any information provided.

Diabetes Alert Day is observed on March 25, 2025. This is our annual reminder to raise awareness about the risks and complications of undiagnosed diabetes. Assess your own risk for pre-diabetes, enroll in a local Evidence-Based Diabetes Prevention Program, or join a Living Well with Diabetes program to better manage diabetes if you are a person diagnosed with diabetes. Encourage your loved ones to check their risk as well. For more information on these programs in your community, visit https://lnkd.in/gH6jtxFg

🧦 Today is World Down Syndrome Day! 💙💛 Join us in raising awareness by participating in the #LotsOfSocks campaign! One fun way to spread awareness? Rocking bold, mismatched socks! Why? Because when someone asks, “What’s up with the socks?”—it opens the door to start conversations about Down syndrome! Let’s celebrate the unique contributions of individuals with Down syndrome in our communities. Share your photos using #LotsOfSocks and help spread the message!
