Creating Experiences that Challenge You to Grow

About us

On Purpose Adventures, LLC believes the body craves adventure and the soul needs purpose. We supply both as the premiere adventure event planner in Charleston, SC. From mother-in-law approved bachelor parties to fundraisers and corporate team building, we create experiences and memories with an adventure twist. We specialize in creating unique and unforgettable Adventures that have meaningful Purposes all over the globe. That may just be bonding with friends, stretching your comfort zone or increasing teamwork and communication. We specialize in two areas when it comes to corporate training: Leadership/Team Building and Conflict Resolution. Here at On Purpose Adventures we believe that both areas are built on effective communication. With this in mind, we create adventures to reach each company/group’s goals. The adventures may vary, but the importance of having purpose never will. When making any journey, before getting to where you’re going, you must first know where you begin. OPA will find your coordinates and set you on the right path! See the testimonial below from Ashley, a Cisco manager. "The impact of what OPA does has gone so far beyond our summit. There are people that were teamed up who work a few desks away from one another in the same building and never really had much of a conversation. Since our team building scavenger hunt, the lines of communication and sense of camaraderie have vastly improved. This even goes for folks who work half a world away – conference calls with our peers are a bit more jovial now that we’ve had the chance to get to know one another in such a fun and dynamic way." Looking to keep your mind sharp? Forget the pressure to pick up crossword puzzles or brain teasers if that's not your thing. There's a simpler, and possibly more enjoyable, way to boost your mental clarity: GET OUTSIDE AND GET MOVING! Just a half hour to an hour of outdoor activity like walking or kayaking can make a huge difference for both your mind and body. Neuroscientists have found that even a brief walk releases "feel-good" neurochemicals like dopamine and serotonin, helping to reduce anxiety and boost your mood. Plus, getting fresh air, soaking up some sunshine, and enjoying nature are all part of this wellness package that goes beyond screen-free time. So, if you want to give your brain a boost and enjoy some downtime away from your screen, consider heading outdoors for a stroll or hopping in a kayak. It’s never too late to start, and your brain will thank you for it! #OnPurposeAdventures #NatureAdventures #Kayaking #LeadershipDevelopment #MentalWellness #BrainHealth #GetOutdoors

HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎃 🎃 Dr. Troy released a great newsletter this week about how some leaders think they need to put on a fake MASK while they're at work - not just around Halloween, but year-round. But authenticity is one of the most powerful tools a leader can use! When leaders shed the mask and lead with transparency, they build trust, foster real connections, and create an environment where team members feel safe to be themselves too. For instance, some leaders might pretend to have all the answers or act overly confident, even when uncertain. But true authenticity means saying, "I don’t have all the answers right now, but I’m committed to finding the best solution with our team." This builds trust and shows that real leadership means being honest and supportive. If you’re ready to learn how authenticity can transform your workplace, give Dr. Troy’s latest newsletter a read: https://lnkd.in/epSdWZcK #OnPurposeAdventures #CohesionCulture #AuthenticLeadership #Halloween #EmployeeRetention #LeadershipDevelopment

Strong workplace friendships aren't just nice to have. These connections are central to creating a Cohesion Culture™ where creativity, collaboration, and performance thrive. As organizations grapple with the balance of remote, hybrid, and in-office work, one essential factor stands out: the need for social connections to foster trust, belonging, and a sense of community. Amazon’s recent decision to bring employees back to the office full-time underscores a larger trend. CEO Andy Jassy highlighted that, despite the benefits of remote work, the in-person environment is vital for learning, cultural immersion, and hands-on collaboration. While this shift has stirred up strong reactions, it raises an important question: how do we foster creativity and breakthrough ideas when physical presence is minimized? Studies from the University of Oxford and the University of Pittsburgh reveal that remote teams are less likely to make transformative breakthroughs than those collaborating in-person. While virtual connections can enhance knowledge sharing, they often lack the spontaneous interactions that spark new ideas and innovative thinking. (Check out our blog on mastering engagement in hybrid teams for tips on running engaging meetings with team members no matter their locations: https://lnkd.in/eVAgK_4B) As we rethink post-COVID workplace designs, it’s important to ensure young professionals aren’t left feeling isolated or disconnected. A cohesive organization invests not just in its current productivity but in building an inclusive, connected future. Committing to a Cohesion Culture means valuing social bonds as the backbone of sustained success and ensuring that each team member feels a true sense of belonging. #OnPurposeAdventures #CohesionCulture #YellowCamoCrew #EmployeeRetention #CorporateCulture #Connection

After reading the recent Leading On Purpose newsletter about the importance of delegation, you're probably wondering what first steps to take. First, identify which responsibilities others can take on to develop new skills and bring fresh insights. Choose tasks that don't need your personal touch but still contribute to business growth. Next, provide clear instructions to your new hire. Give context and resources, then allow your team take ownership. Finally, embrace "good enough". Aim for a task done 80% as you would, leaving the remaining 20% as room for new ideas. Start with small steps, trust your team, and watch them rise to the challenge. Thank you Pat 🐼 Tang, Zoë Perissos, and Kathleen Buckley for your thoughtful comments. #OnPurposeAdventures #Leadership #YellowCamoCrew #Delegation #EmployeeRetention #LeadOnPurpose

When was the last time you felt truly valued by your team? What sparked that feeling? Was it a brainstorming session where someone validated your idea? Did your leader simply say thank you? Maybe it was a time someone stepped up to help with you asking first? These moments of connection lay the foundation for stronger, more resilient teams. So next time your team gathers, consider ways to foster these genuine connections. Encourage open dialogue, set up an activity where teammates learn a new skill together, or create a comfortable environment where team members share personal insights. When you create spaces where every voice matters and each win feels like a team effort, you're building a Cohesion Culture™ where belonging, value, and shared commitment thrive. What’s one way you've fostered connection and cohesion in your team? #OnPurposeAdventures #YellowCamoCrew #TeamBuilding #EmployeeRetention #CohesionCulture #Leadership

BUILD STRONGER TEAMS Team building activities can be hit or miss. The misses involve awkward icebreakers, forced interactions, and scenarios that feel anything but genuine. But what if team building looked different? The Holy City Wanderer Scavenger Hunt offers a refreshing take. Instead of traditional exercises, this GPS-guided adventure takes teams out of the office and into Charleston’s beautiful streets, creating a shared experience that builds connections naturally. And this autumn weather presents an ideal time of year to remove employees from the 'boredroom' and enjoy the cooler temps. Here's how it works: 👉 Creative Problem Solving: Teams tackle clues and riddles, encouraging innovative thinking and quick decisions. 👉 Clear Communication: To succeed, everyone has to communicate effectively, honing skills that carry back into everyday work. 👉 Fluid Collaboration: Working toward a common goal fosters trust and lets each person bring their unique strengths. 👉 Resource Management: Limited time and resources mean teams must plan and prioritize effectively. 👉 Decisive Decision Making: From choosing routes to assigning tasks, decision making skills sharpen in real time. 👉 Emerging Leadership: As challenges unfold, natural leaders step up, bringing direction and inspiration to the team. It's a simple, enjoyable approach to bonding, and with each task, employees build skills they’ll use long after the scavenger hunt is over. The Holy City Wanderer gives teams a chance to connect meaningfully, challenge themselves, and discover Charleston together! #OnPurposeAdventures #ScavengerHunt #YellowCamoCrew #HolyCityWanderer #TeamBonding #EmployeeRetention

Any business owners feeling uneasy about that one word... DELEGATION? You built your company from the ground up, pouring yourself into every detail. Now, it’s time to hand off some of those essential tasks you believe make it all work. Just trust an employee to make the same calls and handle the same tasks in the exact same way? Well, that's not quite how it works. Delegation doesn't mean handing off responsibility blindly. You'll train a qualified and capable employee to take on specific tasks. With their focus on one area, they can even outperform what you were managing on your own. Think about it: as a small business owner, you’re juggling sales, accounting, office admin, and HR. By bringing on a dedicated salesperson, you’ve just freed yourself up, and they’ll focus solely on sales calls and meetings. Guess what? They will be able to do way more calls and meetings than you ever could. You were spreading yourself thin across a myriad of different tasks. They are entirely focused on being successful in just one facet of the business. Now your business makes more money and you have time and energy for other priorities. It's a win/win. Don’t let the fear of letting go hold your business back from real growth! Read more: https://lnkd.in/eCraJKH3 #OnPurposeAdventures #Delegation #LeadOnPurpose #YellowCamoCrew #Newsletter #Leadership
