Creating Experiences that Challenge You to Grow

About us

On Purpose Adventures, LLC believes the body craves adventure and the soul needs purpose. We supply both as the premiere adventure event planner in Charleston, SC. From mother-in-law approved bachelor parties to fundraisers and corporate team building, we create experiences and memories with an adventure twist. We specialize in creating unique and unforgettable Adventures that have meaningful Purposes all over the globe. That may just be bonding with friends, stretching your comfort zone or increasing teamwork and communication. We specialize in two areas when it comes to corporate training: Leadership/Team Building and Conflict Resolution. Here at On Purpose Adventures we believe that both areas are built on effective communication. With this in mind, we create adventures to reach each company/group’s goals. The adventures may vary, but the importance of having purpose never will. When making any journey, before getting to where you’re going, you must first know where you begin. OPA will find your coordinates and set you on the right path! See the testimonial below from Ashley, a Cisco manager. "The impact of what OPA does has gone so far beyond our summit. There are people that were teamed up who work a few desks away from one another in the same building and never really had much of a conversation. Since our team building scavenger hunt, the lines of communication and sense of camaraderie have vastly improved. This even goes for folks who work half a world away – conference calls with our peers are a bit more jovial now that we’ve had the chance to get to know one another in such a fun and dynamic way." EXAMPLE TO THE EXTREME But let's take it down a notch. If a leader tells employees work/life balance is important but works 80 hours a week and send emails on weekends, how likely are employees to feel comfortable logging off at 5 pm? If a leader talks about the importance of mental health but never takes a day off, will the team believe it's okay to use their own PTO? If a leader says they value feedback but never listens or makes changes, can employees feel safe speaking up? Actions speak louder than words. Set the example you want others to follow. #OnPurposeAdventures #YellowCamoCrew #Leadership #EmployeeRetention #LeadershipDevelopment #LeadByExample

OUR YOUNG PEOPLE ARE UNHAPPY According to this year's World Happiness Report, for the first time in the report's 20-year history, the United States hasn't made the top 20 happiest countries. While Americans over 60 rank 10th worldwide for happiness, those under 30 have dropped to 62nd. Jonathan Haidt, author of "The Anxious Generation", attributes this decline to smartphones and social media. However, this explanation feels incomplete. Candice Odgers from UC Irvine argues that the data doesn't fully support Haidt's claims, noting that research reveals only minor or mixed associations between social media and unhappiness. Jeffrey Hall, a communications professor at the The University of Kansas, suggests that systemic issues—financial instability, difficulty in settling down, and institutional distrust—are more significant factors. We would ask why LONELINESS isn't included in this conversation. A 2020 report on workplace loneliness found that 79% of Gen Zers and 71% of Millennials considered themselves lonely, compared to 50% of Baby Boomers. Leaders and organizations might not feel this information pertains to them... But happy workers are productive workers. Investing in strategies to boost socialization and foster genuine friendships in the office could be key to reversing these troubling trends and building a more engaged and satisfied workforce. #OnPurposeAdventures #OrganizationalCulture #Happiness #Friendship #EmployeeEngagement

Ever noticed how there's a weird joy in struggling with something new? It’s not comfortable, but that discomfort is a sign of growth. The more we practice, the more we experience those little dopamine hits that make it all worth it. Why does this happen? It turns out our brains have a “novelty center,” the substantia nigra/ventral tegmental area (SN/VTA), which lights up when we try fresh experiences. This part of the brain is linked to learning and memory, and when it's activated, it triggers dopamine pathways that make us feel good. According to Zapata, “Each time you take a leap of faith and try something new, you’re training your brain to remember the positive rewards associated with a new and exciting experience. The adrenaline rush, the endorphins, the sense of pride; they’re all stored in your memory banks.” So, go ahead, embrace the suck—it’s good for you!
