Did you know lawyers are key to scientific innovation?      It's true: legal counsel helps us stay compliant as we expand our work in the U.S.       Luckily, we have the best and the brightest General Counsel around. Daniel Moynihan joined ONO in 2022, bringing with him 25 years of expertise in building and revamping compliance programs across leading biopharma organizations.       Dan's wide-ranging knowledge makes him a key advisor to senior leadership – and critical guide to all our teams through the ever-changing regulatory landscape.       Thank you, Dan, for your sage counsel as we challenge the unknown!

We're working hard to advance molecules in our four focus areas: Oncology, Neurology, Immunology, and Specialty.  We're not afraid to tackle challenges head-on – so patients can live better lives. 

ONO's core mission is to develop treatments with the potential to change patients' lives.  For some of our colleagues, the mission is personal. Cynthia Fairbairn, our Director of Clinical Operations, says she owes her own life to a scientific advance that happened just before she was born. Now, she designs clinical trials at ONO PHARMA USA with the goal of bringing innovative therapies to market.  Through her work, Cynthia says she's paying it forward to others who are awaiting new treatment options. Team ONO is united across the globe.     Not only do we have a common commitment to innovative R&D for patients, but our culture and history also span countries. During a trip to ONO's headquarters in Japan, some of our U.S. team members experienced a unique piece of the company’s history, perched upon the rooftop of the Osaka office.     Atop the building are two shrines: the Chitose Myojin Shrine is named after the legend of a crane that descended on our company on October 22, 1848. The other is an Inari Shrine, which symbolizes business prosperity.     The shrines serve as a reminder of the long and rich history of our company. And they watch over our work amid the hustle and bustle of the city—whether we’re in Osaka or in Cambridge. 

Evolving our business starts with the bright minds of Team ONO who inspire new thinking.    When David Trexler, Chief Commercial Officer, joined ONO PHARMA USA, he brought with him a long history of establishing leading oncology organizations – and a great entrepreneurial spirit. Since he’s been with us, David has been instrumental in building ONO’s presence in the U.S. and is helping build the careers of those around him.      As he lays the groundwork for ONO's expansion in the U.S. and helps teammates chart their careers, David has fostered an atmosphere of growth throughout ONO – that makes us excited to come to work each day.  

Patients are depending on us to succeed.     While our U.S. business continues to grow, we are proud to continue challenging the status quo in oncology. We are passionate about developing innovative therapies that have the potential to change patient outcomes.      Our President and CEO of ONO PHARMA USA, Kunihiko Ito, reminds us of that purpose.      “At ONO, our mission is to help patients who may not have treatment options. ONO PHARMA USA CEO and President Kunihiko Ito recently attended the public Ono Pharma Foundation 2024 Annual Symposium. He and other attendees heard several scientific presentations from independent academic investigators who spoke about new ways to better identify drug targets and their modalities in all therapeutic areas. “The presentations were exceptional,” Ito said. “I left truly inspired by the work presented by each principal investigator.” Ono Pharma Foundation is an independent non-profit organization funded by Ono Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., of Osaka, Japan. The Foundation is committed to scientific innovation and drug discovery and was established to support academic research in relevant scientific fields, which have the potential of making significant impact on therapeutic approaches to disease and pain management. 

The Fourth of July is a day to celebrate freedom and unity. At ONO, our team knows how to make it unforgettable, wherever they celebrated. Some of our colleagues cheered as the boom of Boston's iconic fireworks echoed off our Cambridge office building. Others soaked up the sun at the beach, cheered at small town parades, or marveled at majestic vistas out West.
