According to Merriam-Webster, modicum derives from the Latin noun modus, which means "measure," and has been a part of the English language since the 15th century. Sure modicum may sound dry, even scholarly. But it fits perfectly where contemporary synonyms like hint, scrap, or spark don't have the same gravitas. Our OGC Program Manager, Laura, and I were talking the other day about her kids heading back to school on Aug 15. What? Wait! That’s too soon. Being from Washington state, An August start is unthinkable to me since our schools typically get back to it after Labor Day. (Laura is in the beautiful state of Utah.) Whether you have children at home or not, it seems life does bring this late summer rhythm of getting back to our mission and purpose. (For the record, relaxing is ALSO mission-aligned and purposeful!) My hope is that you experience excited anticipation as we cruise into fall. I’m eager because we’re working on new learning opportunities to share in the months ahead.
