On September 11, 2001, our nation endured unimaginable loss as nearly 3,000 lives were taken in coordinated terrorist attacks. We honor those lost, the brave first responders, and the lives forever changed. Former President George W. Bush's words remind us of our resilience: “These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed. Our country is strong. A great people has been moved to defend a great nation.” In the years since, Special Operations Forces have been crucial in ensuring our nation’s security, demonstrating sacrifice and commitment. The realities of military service such as combat exposure, injury, an uncertain future, as well as feelings of isolation, and heightened stress are some factors known to contribute to depression and thoughts of suicide. It's truly inspiring to hear success stories from those we’ve been honored to serve. We’re incredibly grateful to share this heartfelt thank-you letter from the Osthoff family. After Operation Healing Forces stepped in to assist with lodging, the family was able to be together while Felicia donated a life-saving kidney to her brother, who had been battling stage 5 renal failure. Their journey is a testament to the strength of family and the impact that support during critical times can have. See their letter below! - - - - - "THANK YOU AGAIN, from the absolute bottom of our hearts for all of your support throughout this Kidney donation transplant journey! I am happy to report that both surgeries went as planned, no complications, and healing has commenced! The kidney immediately started to work once they transplanted it to my brother. His body is accepting it beautifully, and he is feeling more and more amazing every day. His gratitude to you all for your support to our family is heavy and does not go unnoticed. We returned to MD this week. The hotel accommodation was so beyond helpful to our family that first week post op.
