  • In the remote Alaskan village of Port Alsworth, where no roads lead in or out, the volunteer First Response Team is a lifeline for the community. Formed in 1922 out of desperate need, these dedicated men and women stepped up to become certified first responders, ensuring their neighbors receive critical medical care and rescue support. Through a First Responder Grant, the Gary Sinise Foundation provided them with a Snowbulance, trail backboard, hypo-wraps, and life blankets—essential tools that have been critical in their life-saving efforts. Since their founding, their heroism has been recognized with the Outstanding Ambulance Service of the Year award from the state of Alaska and a National Heroism Award from the American Red Cross. These responders are more than a team—they are true heroes. 💙 Join us in saluting the Port Alsworth First Response Team! #FirstResponderFriday

  • Twenty-two years ago, on March 23, 2003, the 507th Maintenance Company was ambushed in an attack during the early days of Operation Iraqi Freedom. 10 American soldiers lost their lives, seven were wounded and taken captive, and the battle became one of the war’s most defining moments. Among the captured was U.S. Army Private First Class Jessica Lynch, who would later become the first American POW successfully rescued since World War II. Her story of resilience and survival captured the nation’s attention, shedding light on the sacrifices of those who serve. For her bravery, Jessica was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Prisoner of War Medal. She has been recognized as West Virginian of the Year and Glamour Woman of the Year, graced the covers of TIME and People magazines, and has dedicated her life to honoring her fallen comrades and advocating for veterans. We salute you! #WarriorWednesday #WomensHistoryMonth

Mary Dague embodies true resilience. 💪 🇺🇸 After 9/11, Mary felt a deep call to serve and became an Explosive Ordnance Disposal tech, breaking barriers as the first woman assigned to the 707th Ordnance Company.
