    The Pinecone team was scaling rapidly and gearing up for a new product launch of their serverless offering. Their finance and engineering teams needed a single source of truth to help get them there and beyond. The team was introducing multi-product billing and nuanced metering practices as they built additional product lines and pricing plans for their customers. Their in-house solution would soon be unable to support the additional complexity, so they sought a new way. Pinecone chose Orb because of its pricing flexibility, easy-to-use API, and ability to act as a single source of truth for usage and billing. After a three-month implementation period of Orb, Pinecone was able to: 1️⃣ Automate their invoicing processes 2️⃣ Enable flexible, usage-based pricing 3️⃣ Improve cross-functional visibility into customer data 4️⃣ Eliminate the need for additional in-house support to manage billing calculations Streamlining their billing and invoicing processes allowed them to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving market. Ifat Villaret, Director of Finance at Pinecone, shared:  “The world we work in is evolving very quickly—if you can’t keep pace with market and customer needs, you’ll stay behind.     Excited to partner with PricingSaaS on their Q4 2024 Benchmark Report, which dives into the trends and strategies deployed by software companies looking to unlock their revenue. Here’s a peek into what we’re seeing: 1️⃣ 188 out of 443 companies have modified their pricing this year, signaling increasing intention to align monetization with product usage. 2️⃣ 12.8% of SaaS companies rolled out a plan change last quarter, highlighting a growing need for flexible billing systems to handle complex customer migrations efficiently. 3️⃣ 7.4% of SaaS companies modified their displayed pricing, hinting at a trend of experimenting with pricing visibility to appeal to a wider range of buyers.
