DoorDash is fighting delivery fraud with new update. While not widespread, fraudulent delivery claims are causing noticeable harm to restaurants and drivers. Here's what has changed: 1. Customers with frequently reported issues will need to provide a 4-digit code upon delivery. 2. Dashers will now benefit from an improved appeals process - preventing false account deactivations. Why does this matter? 1. Fraudulent claims cost restaurants, as they often have to cover these "missing" orders. 2. Retail fraud last year alone cost the U.S. an estimated $101 billion. 3. Around 1.5-2% of all app orders result in a refund request. While these small changes may not eliminate chargebacks on the app, it's at least a good first step in identifying abusive users.
