What happens in the body when you see art that you love? Studies have shown that whether you're making or consuming art releases a variety of neurochemicals, hormones, and endorphins. In 2014, Kosta Boda arranged an auction targeting people who perhaps otherwise wouldn't be art glass consumers. The auction was set up to measure changes to the skin conductance levels as well as the heart rate. The person with the biggest reaction to the sculptures were able to walk a way with a piece of art that truly made them feel something special.

Who else has spent hours in front of Netflix "The Perfect Couple", directed by Susanne Bier? Perhaps you were able to spot, not one but two Orrefors collections, making appearances on the show. The Street barware collection, designed by Jan Johansson, was launched in 2006. Inspired by New York’s world-famous criss-cross streets and avenues, the metropolitan feeling is seamlessly merged with the classic Scandinavian crystal tradition. In addition, the show's leading man Liev Schreiber can be seen pictured in the Orrefors Wave frame adorning the office of leading woman Nicole Kidman.

The Orrefors Annual Ornament is a dear tradition to us – and clearly to many more. As this year marks the 40th anniversary of its inception, it felt suitable to make it extra special. In the holiday spirit of pause and reflection, we looked back to the ornament’s origin, more specifically the very first edition. In 1984, Olle Alberius designed a crystal dove, and it took flight right from the start. Only right, then, that the Annual Ornament for 2024 is the Homage Dove. This year’s Annual Ornament is available in two executions – one in clear glass and one limited edition hand-painted in 21-karat gold.

We at Orrefors & Kosta Boda often talk about the craftsmanship that goes into our products. In this video you get to watch the incredible process behind Mattias Stenberg's collection Septum. "The outer forms of the vases must be simple and smooth, but inside there is an irregularity and playfulness that makes every single vase a unique individual. It was this notion of vibrancy and 'structure' within the outer walls of the glass that initiated the idea of the Septum vases." – Mattias Stenberg Septum, which means dividing walls, is an experimental project by architect and designer Mattias Stenberg that transformed into a final art piece in different shapes and colors. In addition, the collection is inspired by the nordic glass art of the 60s and 70s. Septum is handmade at Kosta Glassworks in Sweden in a limited edition.

It can be hard to imagine the materials that conclude the recipe for glass. Crafted from sand, soda ash, and limestone, glassmaking transforms Earth's raw materials into stunning works of art. In 2022, artists Ellen Ehk Åkesson, Markus Åkesson and Johan Röing curated a show for Kosta Boda, titled "The trailing moss and mystic glow". Watch the video below for an insight into this beautiful exhibition.
