Today, I had a bit of fun fitting my presentation to the theme of Day 2 of our national OTASA congress ("Spread the word, tell your story") as I told the tale of OT in pain management in South Africa. Its a dramatic tale of facing the monster of chronic pain alongside the heroic person living with pain - and it has had some twists and turns in recent history! From 2019, when a group of 5 OTs passionate about paincare got together, the OT Pain Management Group of South Africa has grown in numbers and influence and I am grateful to have been a part of that. We believe OTs are essential members of the interdisciplinary paincare team who are also ideally-suited for facilitating pain self-management. OTPMG has more room to grow and we invite all those who share our aim of advocating for the role of OT in paincare to join us on the journey! Sign up for membership: www.otpmg.co.za
