It's an honor to be on the list of award winners for the Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA)'s 2024 Excellence In Craft Contest. The Outdoor Adventure Series took home two awards: In Cooperation with The Pew Charitable Trusts, Presented the 2024 Second Place -- Radio/Podcast: Conservation or Nature, for “Protecting Coastlines and Waterways: Dr. Chad Nelsen on the The Surfrider Foundation's Mission.” and Third Place -- Radio/Podcast: Family Participation/Youth Outdoor Education to, for “Jacqueline McGonigal – Artful Adventures: Kayaking, Painting, and Connecting with Nature at the Orange Beach Wind and Water Learning Center.”

Being a podcast journalist in the destination marketing space has a few perks. After attending the Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA) annual conference in El Paso, I had an opportunity to go on an outdoor adventure with my friends from the OWAA and (Visit) Destination El Paso. Scott Cutler, a Board Member with the EL PASO TRANS-PECOS AUDUBON SOCIETY, hosted us at Hueco Tanks State Historic Site for a morning of light hiking and bird watching. Enjoy the 17th and final episode of our podcast series with UnCruise Adventures Small Ship Cruising as we enjoy the seventh day of cruising and adventure on their Small Ship, the Wilderness Discoverer. This series of short episodes includes interviews with assorted guests and crew who volunteered to share their stories. This last Interview was special because Dave & Cindy, from Boston, MA, were cruising with their family and plus-1s to celebrate Dave's milestone birthday. Overnight, we traveled into Holkham Bay and through Tracey Arm. On the morning of Day 7, we were gifted with a view and exploration of South Sawyer Glacier via the skiffs, waterfalls, and shots of peppermint schnapps delivered via an Ice Luge.
