The current welding of Aluminium alloys is concentrated in the MIG & TIG processes and less attention in MMA process due to metallurgical challenges. The MMA process require research & development. The main problem is oxide formation & slag deposit during welding. Solution-Modify the current flux chemistry to create a reduced atmosphere. The current cost of electrode is R1400-1600/kg, base material (`R125/kg) MIG wire is `R330/kg, MMA process is versatile than both MIG & TIG. More use of the MMA will reduce the cost and growth in the process development.
