About us
The PA Office of the Budget, Office of Comptroller Operations oversees the commonwealth’s uniform accounting, payroll, and financial reporting systems and prepares Pennsylvania’s annual financial report and state-level single audit. We also provide an array of financial management, accounting, travel management and support, quality assurance, process improvement consulting, and other specialized services to agencies under the Governor’s jurisdiction. Our mission is “ensuring fiscal integrity and providing quality financial services to protect the public interest” and we are committed to our core values; accountability, integrity, excellence, communication, credibility, dependability, adaptability, and teamwork. Comptroller Operations is comprised of six bureaus: • Accounting and Financial Management • Audits • Commonwealth Payroll Operations • Payable Services • Planning and Management • Quality Assurance and Process Improvement The department is comprised of more than 400 staff members located in offices throughout the state, primarily in Harrisburg, and 20% of our staff are working from home full time. Employment: As a large and diverse employer, the commonwealth has many opportunities. These positions may be classified as Civil Service or Non-Civil Service positions. Comptroller Operations has both Civil Service and Non-Civil Service positions. Our positions are listed in Open Test Announcements – Administration, Accounting & Fiscal Control. Today I had an opportunity to do something that I haven’t done in 15 years. I returned to my Alma Matter, Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, to participate in their Accounting and Financial Services Expo. I really enjoyed interacting with the next generation of accountants. I appreciated the opportunity to talk to them about my journey and how my Bloom U accounting degree has allowed me to transition into different careers as an auditor, chief operating officer, and now comptroller. I was inspired by the students and the diversity of their interests. It was awesome to see just how many have an interest in working for state government. #cpasingovernment #bloomu
