The Ghassan Abu Sittah Children’s Fund Welcomes Second Group of Patients from Gaza to Lebanon, for Medical Treatment at AUBMC - American University of Beirut Medical Center. Beirut, Lebanon - July 12, 2024 – The Ghassan Abu Sittah Children’s Fund (GASCF), in collaboration with The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) and Insaan NGO announces the arrival of our second group of patients from Gaza in Lebanon. The children’s ages range from 5 to 15 years old, and they will all be receiving medical treatment at AUBMC for war injuries inflicted by the Israeli Occupation Forces. The children landed safely in Beirut on the evening of Thursday, July 11th, accompanied by their caretakers. GASCF is welcoming them and ensuring they receive the best possible medical, psychological, and social care needed during their entire stay. Thanks to our generous donors we are able to cover all expenses including, but not limited to, hospital stay, medical interventions, social welfare services, housing, food, and logistics. Their arrival reiterates GASCF’s commitment to treat children with war injuries, in Lebanon, with the highest available level of expertise in war and injury surgery and treatment. Our objective is to ensure that every child receives the necessary treatment and support before they can safely return to their community to continue their recovery. We are grateful to our donors and the community for their commitment to this cause, and will continue to post updates about the children’s progress and the Fund’s activities on our social media accounts and website. Welcome Joud! This brave 4-year-old from Gaza has been evacuated to the US with his mother to receive specialized treatment, thanks to the efforts of PCRF's Treatment Abroad team, led by Tareq Hailat (Tareq H.). Joud suffered from an amputation of his leg and tragically lost his brother in a bombing at Al Shifa hospital, where they sought shelter. We thank the PCRF New York City chapter for their incredible support during the evacuation. PCRF welcomed Dr. Diana Lapp, MD, a family practice physician from Oregon with a focus on pediatric and women’s health care, as she officially begins her medical mission to support impoverished children in need. Starting her journey at Husn Refugee Camp in Jordan, Dr. Diana has conducted thorough evaluations for dozens of patients. Nineteen of these children are expected to receive monthly medical care through our Disabled Sponsorship Program, while three children will receive support through our One-Time Sponsorship Program. Dr. Lapp will continue her mission in Jordan before traveling to the West Bank in November to evaluate more children requiring medical relief for the 2025 PCRF Monthly Sponsorship Program. 14-year-old Muhammad from Gaza tragically lost his parents and brother when their home was bombed in August. As the sole survivor, he sustained severe injuries, leading to the amputation of his left leg and surgeries on his right. Thanks to our vital partnership with Samaritan’s Purse, Muhammad now has a wheelchair, helping him regain both mobility and dignity. This life-changing support doesn’t stop with him—more wheelchairs have arrived in Gaza and are being distributed to children in need, empowering their recovery and restoring their independence.
