Today on #WorldMentalHealthDay, I encourage each of you to take a moment and learn more about mental health for yourself or someone you love. The official statistic is that 1 in 5 adults in the US live with a mental illness, but I would be willing to bet that number is higher as many people struggle silently without ever getting help. Multiple members of my family have been diagnosed with a mental illness. As I talk to people about our journey, I am continually amazed at how many people have similar stories about themselves, loved ones, or friends they don’t feel comfortable sharing publicly. At Parking Today Media Today Media, we will continue to push for more awareness, support, and acceptance of mental health issues both inside and outside the parking industry. Starting in our November issue of Parking Today magazine, we will feature monthly columns and/or articles about mental health and stories about those who live with mental illness. Additionally, at PIE25, we will have sessions and support resources related to mental health. Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed about, nor something you need to hide. There is help and support available. NAMI is one option, but many others exist. Don’t be afraid to ask for the help you or your loved one needs. It is not an easy journey, but it is well worth it. https://lnkd.in/g2pr_wxu
