The U.S. continues to navigate a mental health, overdose, and suicide crisis. NAMI is deeply concerned about the Administration’s proposed changes to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which could have disastrous implications for the tens of millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI urges our nation’s leaders to continue the bipartisan progress we’ve made to help people affected by mental illness and ensure that dedicated HHS and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) staff can continue their critical work during a time when it is desperately needed. https://bit.ly/4hO7Pnq

The stereotype of the “strong Black woman” can be a barrier to mental health care, and this episode of #HopeStartsWithUs breaks down that barrier as guest host April Simpkins, PHR, SHRM-CP, CDP talks openly about womanhood in Black African Ancestry communities with her guests Miss Alaska USA 2018 and NAMI Ambassador, Brooke Ashley Rose Johnson and psychologist and founder of The AAKOMA Project, Inc., Dr. Alfiee Breland-Noble.
