  • A huge congratulations to 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗠𝗰𝗗𝗼𝗹𝗲 for passing the 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 (𝗩𝗧𝗦) (𝗔𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮 & 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗴𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮) 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺! Applying to become a VTS positively impacts the veterinary nurse/technician, their patients, and the profession. The road leading to this exam is long and difficult and requires an application process that takes an entire year to complete. In fact, a core part of the VTS application includes the creation of 4 comprehensive case reports and up to 60 case logs! The VTS application is an exciting opportunity to present the scope of one’s advanced skills and knowledge and leads to the invitation to take the exam. “𝘖𝘷𝘦𝘳 10 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘨𝘰 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘯𝘥, 𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘭𝘺, 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘢. • One of Partner’s core values is 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲—taking actions that show our support for ourselves, each other, and our community. Last week, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗚𝗹𝘆𝗻𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗰𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗹𝗲, 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 at our Frederick location, did just this when she presented at the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) lecture series. This monthly series focuses on the career paths taken by women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Dr. McCorkle spoke to some 30 students about her career path starting in high school at the age of 15, working as a kennel assistant, working her way up as a vet tech for eight years before vet school, living overseas for vet school, her post-doc research in the surgery department at the University of TN, followed by an internship, residency, and then time spent as a Criticalist and Medical Director in Northern, Virginia, before starting Partner in 2023. “𝘚𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘢 𝘩𝘶𝘨𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦,” 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘋𝘳. • We’re excited to congratulate 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗼𝗶𝘀, 𝗗𝗩𝗠, 𝗗𝗔𝗖𝗩𝗘𝗖𝗖 on passing his boards and welcome him as a Veterinary Criticalist to our Richmond team this November. Critical Care specialists are trained in many areas of medicine, enabling them to be skilled at managing life-threatening emergencies and critically ill hospitalized patients. Dr. Charlebois was born and raised in Quebec and moved to Prince Edward Island where he did his university undergrad and later, his veterinary school education. He then completed a 1-year rotating internship at the Ontario Veterinary College before moving to Virginia to work as an emergency veterinarian for a few years. He moved back to Guelph, Ontario, to complete his residency in Emergency and Critical Care at the Ontario Veterinary College and is now returning to Virginia as a board-certified Criticalist to join the Partner team.
