  • Applications are open for an exciting new pilot after-school program that introduces students to STEM education and potential STEM careers at no cost to students or their families. We were thrilled to work alongside The ExxonMobil Foundation to create their first interactive training center, aiming to make an approachable and engaging space for teens from all walks of life. From wayfinding that resembles chemical elements to the life-size periodic table and formulas, we helped The ExxonMobil Foundation create an experience that perpetually calls back to their why while providing teachable moments at every turn. See more design elements, many of them carry through to the next location in Houston! https://hubs.ly/Q02SfDJs0 ExxonMobil Giving ExxonMobil #TETC #STEMeducation #ExxonMobilGiving #ExxonMobil #STEMtrainingcenter #TexasInteriorArchitecture #STEMcareers

We had a fantastic time during CoreNet Global Houston Chapter's speed networking event hosted at J.Tyler's! Our own Lauri Goodman Lampson, along with five other industry professionals, shared their career experiences with a room full of Emerging Leaders. • How do you create an environment that employees want to commute to often? By getting back to the vision for your people. In-person work models can boost an employee’s overall health and wellness, making them the best version of themselves for your organization. But, doing away with traditional office structure is a crucial first start in seeing better outcomes. Our new energy client, for example, used technology to provide an immersive digital nature experience within the floor, mimicking outside scenes, to boost employee engagement and mood. Swipe to check out the space. Still, there are so many other well-being essentials for you to consider. Stay tuned for ways you, too, can prioritize well-being to remain competitive among other businesses making the crucial shift in their office strategy. #ArchitectureandDesign #OfficeDesign #WorkplaceDesign #backtothebasics

  • STEM is a crucial part of the future — but we need bright minds in place to move it forward. That's why we were honored to help ExxonMobil Foundation design the first of a new kind of STEM learning environment. The Teen Engineering and Tech Centers (TETCs) pilot is a 13,000-square-foot space in Spring, Texas. Fun, approachable, and durable, the space was designed to break down barriers and encourage students to consider a career in STEM. Mirroring the mission to pull back the curtain on the engineering world, we deconstructed the interior architecture of this former childcare facility. Swipe through to see how exposed conduits flow throughout to activate creativity for the next generation of innovation. • How can blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces improve an experience? Nusrat Karovalia presented her thoughts on the topic in this month’s PDR on Design series! With a background in both architecture and interior design, Nusrat brings a unique perspective on how to integrate elements of the outdoors into indoor environments. She highlights the importance of using materials like raw stone, wood, and plants to maintain a natural flow between exterior and interior spaces, even in challenging settings like high-rise buildings. She highlighted the concept of Sciography - Playing with Light. This innovative approach explores the dynamic interplay of light and shadow, showing how even artificial light can mimic the effects of natural sunlight, enhancing the overall experience of a space. Her hand sketches and mood boards serve as essential tools in her design process, allowing her to brainstorm and create cohesive, immersive environments. As we move toward a future of sustainable and green architecture, Nusrat’s vision of merging indoor and outdoor spaces serves as an inspiring guide. Her work is a great example of PDR's efforts to improve Human Sustainability, finding the right design solution to positively impact a person's physical and mental well-being. Join us in exploring Nusrat’s insights and the evolving trends in design that blur the line between inside and outside. #PDRonDesign #WearePDR #IndoorOutdoor #Sciography #LightAndShadow #SustainableDesign #InteriorDesign #Architecture #DesignInspiration

  • Now more than ever, it is crucial for Houston-based leaders to have a solid occupancy strategy for their space. Despite the uncertainty around capital markets, there’s still movement happening — but rebounding requires us to improve the narrative around office-based work. This calls for: - Intentionally designing spaces for your people, first - Finding and developing the "magnet" that draws people in - Thoughtfully choosing amenities that foster hospitality, connection, and wellbeing - Making wiser decisions about if, where, and how to invest in new space Thank you to CoreNet Global Houston Chapter for sparking this much-needed discussion last month! We believe there’s opportunity in any situation, and will continue to apply our design thinking to help business leaders find their path forward. Let's start a conversation about your space: https://hubs.ly/Q02PwfjK0
