New funding opportunities! 🔬💡 In collaboration with its partners, PeDRA is thrilled to announce the launch of two new competitive grant programs. Together with the Arthritis National Research Foundation (ANRF), PeDRA has opened applications for the Rheum for Kids: Pediatric Skin and Joint Grant, a funding opportunity designed to support early-career researchers in advancing innovative projects in pediatric dermatology and pediatric rheumatology. With this grant, ANRF and PeDRA seek to foster cross-disciplinary research teams to drive impactful studies. PeDRA and the Foundation for Ichthyosis & Related Skin Types, Inc. (FIRST) are also collaborating to fund studies through the Pediatric Ichthyosis Challenge Grant. This grant aims to support high-impact research focused on pediatric ichthyosis and related conditions, targeting advancements that address the unique challenges faced by affected children and their families. 📆 Applications for both grant opportunities are due by 11:59PM PT on Friday, January 24, 2025. Changing lives and healing children with skin disease through collaboration and discovery.
About us
To address the devastating burden of pediatric skin diseases, and overcome challenges facing clinician scientists in the field, the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance (PeDRA) has created an infrastructure for efficient, collaborative research. PeDRA was formed in 2012 by leaders from the Society for Pediatric Dermatology (SPD) with the goal of bringing together pediatric dermatologists from across North America to collaborate on research that would never be accomplished on a meaningful timescale were any investigator to take it on alone. In this way, PeDRA is generating meaningful data to support health care decisions and improve the lives of patients and their families, while building a community of linked and research-ready clinician scientists in the field of pediatric dermatology. PeDRA is a collaborative research network, providing a platform from which pediatric dermatologists organize studies and collaborate, while also supporting individuals embarking on early-stage research that may or may not benefit from collaboration in future. Pooling resources and linking investigators together multiplies the power of each individual clinician scientist many-fold. With more than 450 clinician researchers representing more than 150 institutions, PeDRA is accelerating research and bringing us closer to new treatment opportunities for children and families living with dermatologic conditions and diseases. PeDRA is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works in close collaboration with, and serves as the research arm of, the Society for Pediatric Dermatology (SPD). PeDRA is committed to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion across all facets of its organization, programs, committees, leadership, and research studies.

🥁 Drumroll, please! 🥁 Exciting news! PeDRA awards Emerging Investigator Research Grants (EIRGs) to six trainees through its September 2024 application cycle 👏👏👏 The EIRG program supports research projects that aim to create more equitable and accessible mentored research opportunities for a diverse group of trainees interested in pediatric dermatology. The program offered three application cycles, in March, June, and September, calling for proposals from medical students or pediatric residents to conduct four-to-twelve-week mentored projects, either remotely or in person. We had the privilege of attending the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance - PeDRA conference to represent the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias community. Ryder was thrilled to attend mini-CSDF Camp Wonder. Thank you @pedraresearch for allowing me to be part of the Patient Advisory Council (PtAC) and allowing patients to share their thoughts and experiences from the patient perspective in your exciting sessions. Thank you for welcoming my family and making us feel at home within the PeDRA community. We are grateful for all the work that you do to move pediatric dermatology research forward. #pedra2024 #patientpartners #dermatology #research #ectodemaldysplasia #rareskindisease

Grateful to attend the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance (PeDRA) this past weekend in Phoenix, Arizona alongside these wonderful #Sanofians. It was inspiring to learn about the world of pediatric dermatology; treatment landscape, ongoing research and unmet needs from medical students, residents, fellows and experts in this field. It was also incredible to have patient advocacy groups to learn first hand what it means for patients and families who live with medical conditions and the impact it has on their lives. Thank you to the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance - PeDRA for having us! Winifred Wilkins Thompson, PhD, MSW Antoinette Cordova, Ph.D. Sonya Davey

Thank you Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance - PeDRA for giving patient organizations like ours a voice - and an excellent experience at #PeDRA2024. We exhibited, learned, and made new and important connections. Our goal was for every professional in attendance to know about PC (including the early signs of PC and how it affects children) and the work PC Project does to support pediatric dermatologists and researchers. And we think/hope we did it! Special thanks for providing travel scholarships. We so appreciate PeDRA's support of the rare, small, and mighty groups like ours! #StopPCPain #pachyonychia #Pain #RareDisease
