Patients demanded a better way, our founder demanded a better way, a better way to treat pelvic pain is why we’re here.

About us

Persistent pelvic pain impacts 15% of women and 10% of men throughout their lifetime. This disease process has been misdiagnosed, undertreated, ignored, and silenced. There is a better way to provide the quality of life that our patients deserve. The better way is here. We believe that the millions of women and men who suffer from pelvic pain should have access to care that provides relief. We don’t believe “a glass of wine will fix it” or that “it’s all in your head”. We will never abandon you – and from leadership to the front office to every pelvic pain specialist you meet, so much of our team has been in your shoes and believes the pelvic pain patient deserves better. This belief is what unifies us all at Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine. Since 2017, PRM has provided an innovative solution to a health crisis that affects 15% of women and 10% of men. Persistent pelvic pain is often overlooked, untreated, and misguided. At PRM, our mission is to decrease the time patients are suffering from pelvic pain symptoms. We offer a proprietary, simple, office-based procedure to treat the symptoms of chronic pelvic pain. The PRM Protocol™ consists of a series of pelvic nerve and muscle treatments to directly target inflammation in the pelvis and nerve pain. Depending on the condition causing your pelvic pain, other modalities may be needed in addition to our treatment.

  • Why does endometriosis recur after excision surgery? 🤔 Endometriosis is a chronic disease process, therefore, at this point, there is no definitive cure, even surgery. Every case of endometriosis is different, however, one study published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2006 noted the 4-year recurrence rate of endometriosis was 24.6%, 17.8%, 30.6% and 23.7%, respectively, for cases of ovarian, pelvic, deep, and ovarian and pelvic endometriosis. Common symptoms of recurring endometriosis could be: 🎗️bladder pain or urgency 🎗️lower abdominal pain or bloating 🎗️pain with intercourse 🎗️pain or discomfort with bowel movements 🎗️bleeding with bowel movement during your menstrual cycle 🎗️fatigue Addressing the pelvic floor dysfunction that comes with endometriosis through the PRM Protocol™️ is important. This is crucial because: 1) It will oxygenate your pelvic floor nerves and muscles which will keep the inflammatory process in the pelvis at bay 2) Often patients think it is recurrence of their Endometriosis but it may just be the pelvic floor dysfunction creeping in causing the symptoms as the symptoms of pelvic floor pain and endometriosis are essentially the same and the pelvic floor pain can be treated with the office based PRM Protocol™️. Read more on @pelvicrehabilitation blog ➡️ https://bit.ly/4ftCsyH At PRM, we focus on addressing pelvic floor inflammation caused by endometriosis and related conditions. The PRM Protocol™ is a patented, office-based procedure that directly targets the pelvic floor, treating inflamed nerves and spastic muscles. Click the link in bio to read more.

  • 📣 Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine's PRM Protocol™ Shows Early Treatment Yields Better Outcomes for Pelvic Pain Recent data highlights that the sooner patients begin the PRM Protocol™, the more significant their improvement in pain and function. The PRM Protocol™, Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine's patented, in-office treatment, was created to directly target inflamed nerves and muscles of the pelvic floor. Proven to be a highly effective treatment for pelvic pain and dysfunction, chronic abdominal-pelvic pain, and pain related to endometriosis, the timing of intervention plays a crucial role in the success of our treatment. A study conducted between April 10th, 2021, and June 26th, 2024, examined the outcomes of 2,258 patients undergoing the PRM Protocol™. The patients were divided into two groups: - Group 1: Patients experiencing less than 12 months of pain before treatment (N = 638) - Group 2: Patients experiencing over 12 months of pain before treatment (N = 1,620) The findings revealed that patients who received treatment within the first year of experiencing pain had a greater overall percent change in their Visual Analog Scale (VAS) scores, indicating a more substantial reduction in pain. “The data clearly indicates that the longer patients suffer from pelvic pain before seeking treatment, the more severe their condition becomes,” says Dr. Allyson Shrikhande, co-founder of Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine and co-creator of The PRM Protocol™. “This delay not only prolongs their discomfort but also makes it more challenging and time-consuming to achieve symptom reduction and a return to the quality of life patients deserve”. 🗞️ Read the full article > https://yhoo.it/4dPEZBu 💜

  • Our patients are why we do what we do. We love hearing from our patients about how PRM has impacted them and we especially love hearing from patients like Cara who have been through so much and we were able to change how healthcare feels for them. We know that pelvic pain patients, especially patients who have been suffering for so long with misdiagnoses and seek surgical and non-operative solutions for lifetime management of endometriosis, spend a lot of time looking for doctors who listen, and we are honored to be a part of their care team - and that includes everyone from our surgeons to our national pelvic pain specialists. After years of trying to get someone to listen and help me, I finally found Dr. Kapadia and Dr. Haverland. They have gone above and beyond to help me manage my pain, remove the new growth in my abdomen, help me recover, and focus on getting back to living life, not just surviving it. I have stage 4 endometriosis, diagnosed 4 1/2 years ago. They have been my saving grace! And they don’t push meds or hormones right away. They discuss every bit, step by step, and make sure you are okay with the process and how you wish to proceed. I love this place! Give us a call - or click the link in bio to learn more. Dr. Haverland is an Excision Surgeon and Dr. Kapadia is a Pelvic Pain Specialist, both see patients in our Dallas, TX office. 💜

  • 👩⚕️ Endometriosis affects millions of people around the world, and early detection and treatment are crucial in managing the condition. Patients with endometriosis often experience symptoms related to other conditions that arise due to endometriosis. Endometriosis triggers an inflammatory response in the pelvic floor by releasing inflammatory cytokines. This inflammation leads to nerve pain and muscle spasms in the pelvic floor, resulting in a chronic guarding state. The continuous inflammation exacerbates the pain and discomfort, affecting the patient’s quality of life. At PRM, we focus on addressing pelvic floor inflammation caused by endometriosis and related conditions. The PRM Protocol™ is a patented, office-based procedure that directly targets the pelvic floor, treating inflamed nerves and spastic muscles. Patients with endometriosis often experience symptoms related to other conditions that arise due to endometriosis. These comorbidities include: 🎗️Chronic pelvic pain: Persistent pain in the pelvic region. 🎗️Chronic constipation: Ongoing difficulty with bowel movements. 🎗️Rectal pain (levator ani syndrome): Pain in the rectal area. 🎗️Vaginismus (vaginal pain): Painful muscle spasms in the vagina. 🎗️Bladder pain: Discomfort in the bladder. 🎗️Painful urination: Discomfort or pain during urination 💜 If left untreated, endometriosis can progress and lead to further complications. In fact, research shows that two-thirds of people diagnosed with endometriosis experienced symptoms as adolescents. Unfortunately, many of them were ignored by doctors. • Our very own Dallas Endometriosis Excision Surgeon, Dr. Rachael Haverland, was featured in Preston Hollow Advocate for her 'rare speciality to treat a not so rare disease' 🎗️ “One of my goals in my career is to try to advocate for women and endometriosis and pelvic pain and hopefully decrease that time where you can come up with symptoms and get a diagnosis and ultimately treatment,” Haverland says. “The younger we can treat endometriosis, the better your outcomes are.” Endometriosis is “vastly underdiagnosed,” and about one in eight women are diagnosed in their lifetime. According to Haverland, there are many factors contributing to underdiagnosis, like a lack of knowledgeable doctors, stigma surrounding discussing periods and women’s health and absence of research on the disease in general. Haverland joined the Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) team in 2022. PRM has 14 locations across nine states, with Texas offices in Dallas and Houston. Even with places like Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine cropping up all over the country, the Endometriosis Foundation of America finds that out of over 40,000 OB/GYNs in the United States, there are only about 100 endometriosis specialists skilled in the most up-to-date treatment options. Thanks to Dr. Haverland, PRM surgical outcomes show 86% of excision patients experience a 51% decrease in pain. 🗞️ Read the full article --> https://bit.ly/4dn99vM Dr. Haverland MD, MS, FACOG treats patients in Dallas and the greater Texas area - and is experienced in all stages of endometriosis excision.

  • Our patients are why we do what we do. We love hearing from our patients about how PRM has impacted them and we especially love hearing from patients like McKenna who have been through so much and we were able to change how healthcare feels for them. We know that pelvic pain patients, especially patients who have been suffering for so long with misdiagnoses, spend a lot of time looking for doctors who listen, and we are honored to be a part of their care team - and that includes everyone from our providers to our front office staff. I cannot begin to express how helpful PRM has been for my pelvic pain. Prior to treatment I was crippled over in pain, trying various medications, walking around with a heating pad, seeing specialists, etc. Dr Natarajan was my saving grace. Since starting treatment my quality of life has increased immensely and I have sang PRM's praises to all my chronically-ill friends. Dr. Natarajan is one of the kindest humans, and makes you feel heard - something that is unfortunately uncommon in womens healthcare. Nina is a friendly face upon walking in, and Val instantly makes you feel comfortable. 10/10 would recommend Chicago's Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine to anyone with chronic pelvic pain. Give us a call - or click the link in bio to learn more. Dr. Natarajan sees patients in our Chicago, IL office. 💜

  • Did you know that endometriosis falls into the category of an inflammatory disease process? Endometrial plaques release a form of “inflammatory soup” into the pelvis which contributes to inflammation around the pelvic nerves. For so many patients, they are left wondering why even after expert excision they remain in pain months (and years) after surgery. We asked Dr. Ally to weigh in. She said: with Endometriosis, surgery alone is NOT the answer - and it certainly is not the only treatment available for patients! WHY? Because endometriosis is a systemic, inflammatory disease process. This means the nerves and muscles in the pelvis must also be addressed in treatment, which is what the PRM Protocol™ was designed to do🎗 We know that excision surgery is the only way to REMOVE Endometriosis lesions and an important step to healing. However, overall at PRM our mission is to try and decrease the total number of surgeries our poor patients have to undergo in a lifetime as we often see patients who have repeat surgery after repeat surgery. Addressing comorbidities such as the pelvic floor and bladder before or after surgery can help optimize the surgical results and hopefully increase time before further surgery may be needed. In case you missed it on her IG @doctor.allyson we're reposting here. 💜
