About us
Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation (PPFF) began in 1999 as a statewide nonprofit organization to provide a voice for the Commonwealth’s 121 state parks and 2.2 million acres of forest land. With PPFF, citizens can donate or bequeath money to state parks and forests, become active and involved volunteers in the park and forest system, and find some fun and educational opportunities. PPFF’s status as a registered charity allows chapter friends groups to operate on our public lands for the benefit of everyone.PPFF’s mission is to inspire stewardship of Pennsylvania’s state parks and forests through public engagement in volunteerism, education and recreation.

We hosted a glamping competition as part of the #WomenInTheBigWoods2024. The categories were 'cozy' and 'best theme.' Congratulations to our winners Jalee and Grier for coziest and Jen and Heather for best theme. They each converted rustic Civilian Conservation Corps cabins into inviting abodes. #creativity #Glamping #womenoutdoors

Excited to host, in partnership with French Creek State Park, the inaugural #WomenInTheBigWoods2024 event. Fifty women from as close as Lancaster and as far away as Texas joined PPFF and DCNR for a weekend of educational sessions in the outdoors. A shout out to all of the volunteer presenters who made the weekend possible, as well as the amazing staff at French Creek State Park and PPFF. #Outdoorwomen #Camping Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Pam Metzger #leadership #conservation #stewardship #paparks #paforests

Keep an eye out for Katie at a volunteer fair near you!
Board member Mary and Kathryn Giblin could be found at Mont Alto campus of Penn State University earlier this week talking about volunteer opportunities with friends groups and Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation. Katie also visited Allegheny College and will be at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania next week. Have a volunteer fair coming up this fall or next spring? Let us know--there are opportunities to gain valuable skills through volunteerism. #volunteerism #conservation #recreation #Stewardship
