Yesterday, a team of six of our staff, led by Vice President Vonda Hollingsworth, traveled to assist residents of the Brooks-Howell retirement community in Asheville. Due to Hurricane Helene, they have been without water to do laundry since late September. Our team knew something had to be done, and answered a call to action to support those most in need. They took the community's laundry, hundreds of pounds of linens and clothing, to a nearby retreat center to wash, dry, and fold overnight, then return the next morning. Thanks to the generosity of our staff and residents, we also delivered gift bags with snacks, drinks, sanitizer, tissues, a $50 Walmart gift card, and handwritten notes of encouragement to their 75 staff members. Despite personal losses, the Brooks-Howell staff continues to care for their residents with amazing dedication. It was an honor to support such a resilient community. #CommunityStrong #NeighborsHelpingNeighbors

About us
Pennybyrn's mission is to "Demonstrate God’s love for the lives we touch". We are a not-for-profit organization open to people of all faiths. Pennybyrn has a rich history of compassionate and professional care provided in a spirit of service. The original 22-bed Catholic nursing home first opened in 1947, and care was provided directly by the Sisters of the Poor Servants of the Mother of God. The Sisters mission did not waiver as Pennybyrn grew into a full service Retirement Community, offering exceptional living experiences for Independent Living, Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, and Transitional Rehab services. Pennybyrn’s outstanding reputation for quality care has been nurtured over the last 70 years. Our mission and tradition of embracing excellence in service continues to this day. Credit for this goes not only to the Sisters, but to every team member's enthusiasm, commitment, and utmost respect for those in their care.

It's impossible to fully express how appreciative we are of the Nursing team at Pennybyrn! These exceptional professionals are the most compassionate and caring people who show unwavering love and dedication to our Residents and support team every day. Pennybyrn is truly blessed with each Nurse's commitment to give God's love to the lives they touch. Their impact leaves a lasting impression, embodies Pennybyrn's mission, and we are endlessly grateful for all they do. THANK YOU NURSES! We are highlighting some of our amazing Nurses this week, starting with our Nurse Mentor team. With a combined commitment of 112 years at Pennybyrn, they are the epitome of dedication, compassion, and excellence in care! These servant leaders go above and beyond to ensure every person receives the greatest love and level of care possible from Resident to families to team members. Thank you so much Nurse Mentors!
