Last week, I listened to an interview with Eric Schmidt on the applications of LLMs in robotics, and my takeaway was that the pace of development is about to change dramatically. Historically, it's taken years to get systems ready, trained, and deployed, but now, teams can have systems capable of recognition in place almost immediately (allegedly). A few data points: 🤖 Elon is claiming that Tesla's Optimus Prime will be consumer-ready in under five years 🤖 NVIDIA's Isaac platform is being adopted for the development of "tens of millions of AI-powered autonomous machines." 🤖 Amazon discontinued Astro for business and shifted significant resources towards focusing on the Astro home robot That said, these giants' promise of future technology is nothing new, and their resources and access are nearly unparalleled. But what about the rest of us? What about those innovating outside the steep walls of blue-chip tech giants and FAANG? Next week, I will have the pleasure of diving in deep on what's happening in this space and how technical leaders at leading robotics companies are evaluating these solutions with a truly heavy hitting panel.
