With all of the news about campus protests, I though it would be fun to share this photo from a small #protest I organized in 2017 at The University of New Mexico. We didn’t start an encampment or take over any buildings… just a 2 hour silent demonstration to to support #netneutrality This is a great time to share this photo because #netneutrality was officially reinstated by the Federal Communications Commission. It’s pretty cool to look back seven years later and see a mistake finally fixed. This is a win for everyone!

Did you know that there are 12,000 premature deaths per year due to NOISE POLLUTION?! In fact, the European Environment Agency estimates that 22 million people suffer from chronic high annoyance and 6.5 million from chronic high sleep disturbance due to noise pollution. This is supported by further research from the The National Institutes of Health. When living in a city, it often feels like loud cars are just part of the background noise we're supposed to get used to. But should we accept that reality? Tackling the problem of noise pollution is not as straightforward as it might seem. Many cities have tried enforcing noise regulations, but monitoring and enforcement present technical and logistical challenges. The current technology has helped quantify the problem, but turning data into actionable insights remains a massive hurdle. That's why Perspective Components Inc. has deployed NoiseVu in areas with significant noise pollution. NoiseVu monitors vehicle speed and noise at any location. Offenders are identified via license plate recognition, and tickets for these infractions are automatically sent through the mail—no police required! What do you think about this problem?
