Phase Four reposted this
Phase Four just completed performance testing of its Valkyrie Hall effect thruster at Georgia Institute of Technology's High Power Electric Propulsion Laboratory. HPEPL's VTF-2 vacuum chamber, with 350 kL/s of xenon pumping capacity is one of the highest fidelity test environments for electric propulsion systems. Here the Phase Four-built thruster produced 34.3 mN of thrust, 1,424 s anode specific impulse, and 50.6% anode efficiency at 475 W of discharge power on xenon. This is a key milestone test in the qualification of the Valkyrie Propulsion System, which is collaboratively produced by Phase Four and Redwire Space, with heritage technologies from both companies and commercially licensed designs from NASA Glenn Research Center. Thanks to Mitchell Walker, Dan Lev, William Brabston, and Ajay Krishnan for their support in the test, and congrats to Susan Jasmin Ossareh, Hamza Malik and the rest of team who continues to pull long weeks and nights to bring Valkyrie to commercial fruition!
