In the News // Hitting the Greens With Philadelphia Ballet’s Jack Thomas “Golf requires a lot of focus—each shot is its own shot,” he says. “It’s similar to when dancers approach a step and say ‘I’m thinking about 10 things at once.’ One thing I’ve learned is that if I’m thinking about 10 different things, that’s just 10 different distractions.” Here's a little inspiration to carry you through the final days of summer courtesy of Pointe Magazine and Jack Thomas.

Construction machines are starting to roll into our lot on North Broad, heralding a new chapter in our transformative building project. Philadelphia Ballet's Center for Dance will nurture creativity, inspire learning, and foster a deeper appreciation for the arts. This is more than just the expansion of our home; it's a monumental step that will allow our professional company to flourish and significantly expand the School of Philadelphia Ballet and our valued community partnerships, securing a brighter future for dance in our city.   Thank you to everyone who joined us on Thursday and to all who continue to support this incredible journey. Together, we are #BuildingJoy, one cornerstone at a time. Help spread the word we are still accepting applications for the Philadelphia Ballet Orchestra Apprenticeship Program! We will admit one or two young conductors from the Philadelphia area, ages 18-24, who are eager to learn about the ballet orchestra, how it is similar to other ensembles and how it is different. Apprentices will be mentored by Music Director, Beatrice Jona Affron, with whom they will explore musical and technical questions about works within and outside of the ballet repertoire. Apprentices will observe and assist with rehearsals in the studios and performances at the Academy of Music for a real, hands-on experience. From our first meeting when she was 13, her passion and determination for her craft were unmistakable. Her mastery of pure classical technique and remarkable ability to inhabit any role makes her a singularly powerful and versatile artist. Promoting her to Principal Dancer is the natural next step. It has been a joy to watch her grow." - Angel Corella, Artistic Director.
