    Philadelphia Gas Works hosted our first Procurement and Supplier Diversity Expo at our new building, the North Operations Center (NOC). We had an incredible time at our event connecting with so many local and diverse suppliers. A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this event. A special Thank You to our Resource Partners: EMSDC, WBEC-East, City of Philadelphia – OEO, IBA, PIDC, and Economy League and PGW’s Internal Client Departments: Customer Programs, Procurement & Supplier Diversity Team, Facilities Team, Safety Operations Team, and all other internal client departments for making this event a huge success.     In October 2023, Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) launched our inaugural PGW Diverse Business Development Program (DBDP): Fostering Diverse Enterprises and Promoting Economic Expansion, a nine-month educational approach to help diverse and local suppliers prepare for and navigate the procurement process and potential contracting opportunities in the natural gas industry. We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our inaugural Diverse Business Development Program (DBDP)! Over the past 9 months, we have had the privilege of working with 7 incredible-diverse companies, each bringing unique perspectives and innovative solutions to the table. This program has been a journey of growth, learning, and collaboration. We are incredibly proud of the progress and achievements made by these companies, and we look forward to seeing their continued success with PGW and in the utility industry. A huge thank you to everyone involved – PGW’s Procurement and Supplier Diversity and Operations teams, external guest speakers, prime contractor mentors, trainers, and the dedicated teams from each participating company.     The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) kicked off Infrastructure Week along with representatives from Senator Bob Casey, Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker, and local labor unions, announcing $75M from the Biden-Harris Administration Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for Philadelphia Gas Works to replace 40 miles of high-risk pipe, improving safety and reducing energy bills for homes and businesses.
