Join PCFR on November 7 for an exclusive program with Ambassador Roger Carstens, the Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs. Ambassador Carstens will offer an inside look at the U.S. government's efforts to bring home hostages and wrongfully detained Americans. Drawing on his experience as a former Army Special Forces officer and his pivotal role in securing the release of dozens of U.S. nationals, Carstens will discuss the complexities of hostage diplomacy and the evolving strategies used by the Office of Hostage Affairs. Carstens recently supported efforts that brought home The Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, Vladimir Karamurza, and WNBA player and Arizona resident Brittney Griner. He will share insights into the delicate balance of negotiating for the freedom of American citizens while deterring future hostage-taking, and the emotional toll it takes on both families and diplomats involved.
