  • There’s a reason the words “pharmacy transfer” make many of us feel tense. When it can take up to… ⏰ A few days to discover that you need a pharmacy transfer (probably due to stock or other logistical issues) ⏰ 24+ hours for the transfer to be completed ⏰ Another 24+ hours for the medication to be filled ☎️ And numerous phone calls throughout to ensure the transfer goes through ...the lack of control and uncertainty get to us. A few days can feel like years if we need medication for urgent health issues–or just everyday existence and functioning. In our latest blog post, we share: 😥 Photon team member Caitlyn Call's stressful experience trying to request a pharmacy transfer, after she learned her Novolog medication was out of stock. 📲 How Photon created the ability for patients to re-route their Rx to another pharmacy from a text, which helps patients like Caitlyn navigate stock issues and avoid medication delays. A highlight? 🚫☎️ Neither patients nor providers need to make phone calls to ensure the Rx is re-routed smoothly and safely via Photon. 🔗 Learn more in the comments below. #PatientExperience #Pharmacy #DigitalHealth

🎊 Happy anniversary to Blueberry Pediatrics, an early Photon customer who announced their official launch 4 years ago! Recently, their team shared with us this review from a mom who loves Blueberry's services. She commented: 💬 "Their pharmacy program is great and easy. You just get a text when they write you a script and select which pharmacy you want it to go to and what time. It all happens right away." 🫐 We feel honored to power positive pharmacy experiences for Blueberry patients and support the company's growth in years to come.

  • Recently, Diya Shah on our team shared her insights on early-stage building with the Health Tech Nerds community. On early customers, she noted: "[They understand they] don't know everything about what you're building"—they're "signing up to learn with you and shape the product as it should be." 🤝 Thanks to our early customers for partnering with us on product innovations that will revolutionize the prescription experience for millions. ☺️

Interdisciplinary Informatics Leader Building for Social Good

Recently moderated a Health Tech Nerds panel "From Idea to Exit: Building in Healthcare, Part 1: The Idea Stage" and wanted to share some of the most compelling insights: 🤝 On Customer Partnerships & Sales: ◆ Nikita Singareddy (Fortuna Health) on customer segmentation strategy: Design Partners first, Second Cohort adopters next, then Everyone Else—with each group requiring different approaches. ◆ Diya Shah (Photon) on early customers: They understand they "don't know everything about what you're building"—they're "signing up to learn with you and shape the product as it should be." ◆ Kate Wolin (Circea) warning on enterprise sales: Be wary of spending too much time with potential partners who lack budget authority. 💡 On Innovation & Fresh Perspectives: ◆ Diya on the advantage of fresh eyes: Photon benefited from not having traditional pharmacy experience, allowing them to reimagine prescriptions "the way one would shop for something else." ◆ Nikita on creative validation: Her techniques ranged from posting on Craigslist to tabling on the boardwalk of Coney Island—showing unconventional approaches often yield the best insights. 👩👩👦👦 On Team Building: ◆ Nikita on founder alignment: Her team spent 6 months getting to know each other before building anything and completed a detailed survey to ensure philosophical alignment. ◆ Kate on enduring partnerships: Strong cultural foundations and shared values helped her team navigate difficult conversations and maintain relationships even years after exit. 👩💻 On AI & Technology: ◆ Kate citing Ethan Mollick's research: "Far more people are using AI than they're admitting" in healthcare organizations. AI is making operations, product, and development teams more effective when used appropriately. What I appreciated most was the practical, been-there-done-that advice from these founders and operators who've navigated early stages at digital health companies. #HealthTech #DigitalHealth #Entrepreneurship #Startup

Earlier this week, @ Abarca Health's Forward Conference in San Juan PR, Otto Sipe charmed the audience with a masterful discussion on the future of prescriptions alongside key partners. He delved into crucial topics, highlighting the impact of price transparency on patient experience, the complexities that come with transparency while emphasizing the palpable necessity for marketplaces in Healthcare. What a great conference, thank you to Abarca Health for putting together such a compelling agenda and group of people.

Partnerships @ Photon Health, Founding Team @ Zipdrug (acq. by Elevance Health)

✨ I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Head of Partnerships at Photon! Over the past year and a half, as the Chief of Staff, I have had the opportunity to build out foundational elements of our company and learn more about what it means to scale a business from 0 to 1. It’s been a rewarding experience, and I’ve learned so much about problem-solving, tackling big challenges, and getting things done. But now, as I move into the Head of Partnerships role, I’m excited to take ownership of something and truly make a measurable impact. I’m looking forward to using everything I’ve learned to build strong relationships and help drive the company’s growth. The future is looking bright, and I’m pumped to be part of shaping what’s next! If you're interested in a partnership with Photon, I'd love to chat! 🚀

✨ Twice I’ve been in the trenches of early-stage building in healthcare... 💊 At ZipDrug (An IngenioRx Company), I joined as employee number 5, leading operations and GTM as we scaled from 0 to 100. 🚀 At Photon, I joined as Chief of Staff to build at the seed stage again, wearing many hats to help 2x our team and 10x the business. It’s been an exciting, challenging, and rewarding journey, and this Thursday at 12pm ET, I’ll be reflecting on my experiences at Health Tech Nerds virtual panel - From Idea to Exit: Building in Healthcare. Hope to see some of you there! ✨ https://lu.ma/lcw91blp
