Pike Place Market is a defining Seattle icon. Come meet 70+ farmers, 160+ crafters, 220+ shops & restaurants.

About us

Started in 1907, the Pike Place Market is a nine-acre historic district managed by the Pike Place Market Preservation and Development Authority (PDA). Within its historic district are 24 buildings, 222 independently owned shops & restaurants, 69 farmers, 150 craftspeople and more than 450 residents. In addition, there are social services--a senior center, preschool and childcare center, assisted living, medical clinic, and food bank--that serve thousands of people every day. Most Market properties are owned and managed by the PDA, a public not-for-profit corporation chartered by the City of Seattle in 1973 to act as steward and caretaker of the historic properties within the Market Historic District.

  • Innovation in Bloom: 🌷 With creativity and persistence, even a barn in the dead of winter can bloom with possibility. Second-generation Pike Place Market farmer Laura Cha of Va Cha Garden experimented with hydroponic growing this winter in an effort to bring in a little extra income. The cold months of December, January, and February are the toughest for most local farmers. Click the link to read about her experience and how this experiment could shape how local farmers spend the winter months 👉 https://lnkd.in/gChYStfG #PikePlaceMarket #SustainableFarming #Hydroponics #LocalFarmers #InnovationInAgriculture #SeattleBusiness

  • After 39 years at the helm of Don & Joe’s Meats, Don Kuzaro is stepping into a well-earned retirement! Don’s journey at Pike Place Market began as a “clean-up kid.” After serving in the Navy, he returned to the Market and took over the family business in 1986. Under his leadership, Don & Joe’s Meats became a cornerstone of Pike Place Market, known for its top-quality meats and exceptional customer service. Now, Don is passing the cleaver to shop manager and butcher Ben Frey, ensuring the legacy continues. Join us in congratulating Don on his retirement and thanking him for his decades of dedication! His last day behind the counter is Saturday, March 1.

  • At the entrance of Pike Place Market, the Song of the Earth mural stands as a powerful tribute to the Japanese-American farmers who helped build this Market—and the devastating impact of their forced removal during WWII. Each panel tells a story of resilience, loss, and perseverance. As we honor the Day of Remembrance, we remain committed to sharing this history and remembering their impact on the community. Next time you visit, take a moment to reflect on this history. Learn more https://lnkd.in/gkS7gyuw #DayofRemembrance #PikePlaceMarket
