Missing-middle housing or gentle density; call it what you will, but 53% of Americans would prefer a smaller, shared-walled home over a detached home, if it meant they could easily walk to shops and restaurants. Our neighborhoods must allow this type of development to affordably house our younger families and seniors, reduce the congestion on our roads, and to simply build the homes our residents want. https://lnkd.in/eQzE4iUa

Thank you to the many community and elected leaders who shared the day with us as we hosted a housing property tour with the The Apartment Association of Southern Colorado. We toured several affordable and market-rate multifamily housing properties and entry-level homes. Many thanks to our sponsor, Classic Homes for making the day such a huge success.

Thanks for sharing the fabulous Village at Solid Rock affordable housing property with us. This property will support so many lower-income residents and change lives for the better.
This morning the The Apartment Association of Southern Colorado and the Pikes Peak Housing Network hosted a bus tour of affordable housing units in the Pikes Peak region. The Village at Solid Rock was their first stop. So glad I had an opportunity to engage with elected officials and community members that are doing their part to ensure apartments are affordable. ADDED BONUS: I was able to catch up with my old working buddies David Dazlich and Jill Gaebler 😊 Being at Solid Rock Community Development Corporation has reignited my passion to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in this great city.

To be clear, no one wants to end single-family zoning, we only want to ensure other types of higher-density housing are also allowed within residential zones. This allows all residents to afford a home in the neighborhood they desire to live. https://lnkd.in/ew8kY_YW
‘End single-family zoning’ is bad political messaging

As seniors become a greater segment of our population, housing development, redevelopment, and repurposing are considered with them in mind. Here are some great ideas to ensure our seniors have affordable and safe housing as they age. https://lnkd.in/ghJTAcN8

No neighborhood should experience radical change, but no neighborhood can be exempt from change. Adding duplexes, brownstones, and granny flats to an existing neighborhood is a great way to increase density and build more affordable homes, without losing the character of our neighborhoods. https://lnkd.in/gCwWqFbE

Coloradans' biggest concerns are housing affordability and mental health--issues impacted by our built environment. People need community, which supports traditional housing development with smaller homes, more housing options, and compact, mixed-use neighborhoods that are safe to walk and bike...all toward getting to know your neighbors. https://lnkd.in/gQy7peN8
