🌱 Watch us grow! 🐟 We've been quite busy at Pine Island Redfish, planting the mangrove propagules brought in by our amazing volunteers on Florida's Gulf Coast. Partnering with our friends at MANG, are Florida mangrove restoration project is well underway. We've already planted more than 1,000 mangrove propagules... and many, many more to come! We use our nutrient-rich wastewater from our redfish production to feed not only these mangroves but other amazing nutrient-dense vegetables. Once the mangroves reach the perfect size, we will begin transplanting these carbon sequestering beauties along Florida's Gulf coast - rebuilding and protecting vital coastal ecosystems. We'll keep you up to date as our newest mangroves grow and prosper. 👏 Thanks again to the MANG team and all the volunteers working across Florida. The team at WeAreAquaculture is always supportive of our #regenerativeaquaculture mission: growing nutritious seafood and repurposing our fish waste to cultivate nutrient-rich and climate stabilizing plants. Now, we are collaborating with the fantastic folks at MANG on a Florida mangrove restoration project. Volunteers across the state are collecting mangrove propagules, which we will plant at our nursery and then transplant across our Gulf coast. Together, Pine Island Redfish and MANG are supporting Florida mangrove restoration through our Propagule Collection Project. All across Florida's coastline, volunteers are collecting mangrove seeds which we will first plant at our nursery, and then we will transplant the mangroves along Florida's west coast. Our mission aligns with MANG's mission; we are both passionate about restorative improvements to our coastal ecosystems and adjacent communities.
