In two weeks, the California Air Resource Board will hold a public hearing and vote on changes to the current Low Carbon Fuel Standard. This program was created in 2011 to phase out fossil fuels and decrease air pollution from CA produced fuels. Brent crude rose yesterday by 2.7% to $75.50 per barrel following the recent events in the Middle East this week. Despite this increase, prices are still much cheaper that the peak that occurred this past July. The US Energy Information Administration reported that recent refinery outages in Chicago and Ohio have increased overall gasoline prices in the Midwest.
