46% of AI proofs of concept never make it to production. That might sound high, but in the world of emerging tech, that’s actually a win. Blockchain? Failure rates hover between 70–90%. IoT and AR/VR aren’t far behind. I’ve seen plenty of promising pilots burn out—some of them were mine. AI is still maturing. The real value isn’t in generic tools—it’s in targeted, local systems tuned to your data and your workflows. Cloud-based services like ChatGPT or Claude are great for general use. But they’re Swiss Army knives—good at everything, but not built for anything in particular. Worse, every time someone inside your business uses them, they might be handing off critical IP without even realizing it. Owning your AI infrastructure is like owning your toolshed. You’re not just playing with tech—you’re building long-term leverage. The future belongs to businesses that don’t just use AI—they shape it to fit their exact needs.
