  • Happy Women's History Month! As we celebrate the women of the Pirates organization, we're sharing their stories: how they got here, what keeps them going and how they hope to inspire the next generation of women in sports. From childhood backyard baseball games to leading Pirates Charities and Community Engagement, Jacque has built a career around the positive impact of sports. Her journey started with a love for storytelling—first as an aspiring sports journalist, then pivoting to PR and marketing to focus on the uplifting stories in the industry. After gaining experience with the NFL in New York and London, followed by seven years at DICK’S Sporting Goods, she returned to baseball, ready to make an impact in her hometown. Now, she’s combining her love of baseball and philanthropy with the Pittsburgh Pirates, helping to create meaningful change in the community. “Working in sports isn’t always easy or glamorous, but what has kept me in it for more than 15 years? The love of the game. The love and appreciation for how sports bring us together.” Her advice for the next generation of women in sports? ⚾ Your voice matters. Your skills, ideas, and unique perspectives are valuable. ⚾ Find your own way. There are many paths to making an impact in this industry. ⚾ Embrace the journey. The long days are worth it when you’re part of something bigger. #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenInSports #LetsGoBucs

  • Happy Women's History Month! As we celebrate the women of the Pirates organization, we're sharing their stories: how they got here, what keeps them going and how they hope to inspire the next generation of women in sports. The little girl who attended her first Pirates game at 4 months old would have never dreamed she’d be here today. For Christina Nellis, the Pittsburgh Pirates have always been more than just a team, they've been a part of her story. From growing up with season tickets to pursuing a degree in Sports Management, she knew she wanted a career in sports. Her journey started as a Ballpark Operations Intern, then a seasonal role, and eventually a full-time position in Cleaning Operations. But in 2016, she took a leap into Human Resources, earning her Master’s in Human Resource Management while growing in her career. Today, she’s the Manager of People and Culture for the Pirates. Her advice to women who dream of working in sports? ⚾ Follow your dream, you never know where your path will lead. ⚾ You may find yourself outnumbered in a room, but your voice matters. #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenInSports #LetsGoBucs

  • Happy Women's History Month! As we celebrate the women of the Pirates organization, we're sharing their stories: how they got here, what keeps them going and how they hope to inspire the next generation of women in sports. From an Inside Sales role with the Pittsburgh Pirates to a leadership position guiding the next generation, Missy (Ripepi) DeMarco has built a career centered on relationship-building and meaningful connections in sports. Her journey started after graduating from Penn State, unsure of her exact path but eager to explore sales. That curiosity led her to the Pirates, where she discovered a passion for connecting with fans. After gaining experience with teams like the St. Louis Rams and Colorado Avalanche, she returned to the Pirates in 2018—this time, leading the very strategy that launched her career. “Over the years, the Pirates organization has evolved into a truly people-centric culture, which resonates deeply with me. For me, it’s important to work with people who not only motivate me but genuinely care about me as a person.” Now, as a mother to a 2-year-old daughter (with another child on the way!), Missy is proud to work in an environment that supports her both professionally and personally. Her message to young women in sports? ⚾ You can build a successful career and have a fulfilling family life. ⚾ Find a workplace that values you! Not just as an employee, but as a person. ⚾ Growth comes from stepping into new challenges. #InternationalWomensDay #WomenInSports
